    Abstract

    Penelitian ini merupakan studi interpretatif yang mengkaji implementasi teknik rudiments sebagai fondasi pembelajaran drum. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menilai efektivitas implementasi metode pelatihan rudiments dalam meningkatkan kompetensi teknis dan musikal drummer pemula di Isola Percussion. Latar belakang penelitian didasarkan pada permasalahan umum yang dihadapi oleh drummer pemula, yaitu kecenderungan untuk mengabaikan latihan dasar rudiments dan langsung melompat ke permainan lagu, yang berdampak kurang baik pada perkembangan keterampilan mereka. Metode yang digunakan adalah action research dengan tiga siklus pembelajaran yang berlangsung selama tiga minggu, melibatkan empat partisipan mahasiswa drum tingkat dasar. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi partisipatif, wawancara, dan analisis rekaman performa. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam penguasaan teknik single stroke, double Stroke, Triplet, dan paradiddle, dengan indikator utama berupa stabilitas tempo, akurasi pukulan, dan kemampuan aplikasi dalam fill-in. Hasil akhir menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan pembelajaran rudiments secara bertahap dan kontekstual mampu membangun fondasi teknis yang kuat, meningkatkan kesadaran musikal, dan mengembangkan kreativitas dalam improvisasi. Penelitian ini memberikan rekomendasi praktis bagi lembaga pendidikan musik untuk mengintegrasikan kurikulum rudiments yang lebih terstruktur, dengan penekanan pada penerapan langsung, guna mendukung perkembangan keterampilan drummer pemula secara menyeluruh. This study is an interpretative investigation examining the implementation of rudiment techniques as the foundation of drum education. The primary objective is to evaluate the effectiveness of rudiment-based training methods in enhancing the technical and musical competence of beginner drummers at Isola Percussion. The research background stems from a common issue faced by novice drummers—the tendency to neglect fundamental rudiment practice and proceed directly to playing songs, which often hinders their skill development. The research employed an action research method with three learning cycles conducted over three weeks, involving four beginner-level drum students. Data were collected through participatory observation, interviews, and performance recording analysis. Findings revealed significant improvements in mastering single stroke, Double Stroke, Triplet, and paradiddle techniques, with key indicators including tempo stability, stroke accuracy, and application ability in fill-ins.The final results indicate that a gradual and contextual rudiment learning approach can effectively build a strong technical foundation, enhance musical awareness, and foster creativity in improvisation. This study provides practical recommendations for music education institutions to integrate a more structured rudiment curriculum, emphasizing direct application, to holistically support the skill development of beginner drummers.
