    Abstract

    Penelitian ini didasari oleh rendahnya kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa, khususnya pada materi piktogram dan diagram batang. Siswa masih mengalami kesulitan dalam memahami soal serta menyelesaikan permasalahan yang berkaitan dengan data. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pendekatan Problem-Based Learning (PBL) terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah quasi eksperimen dengan desain non-equivalent control group design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas IV SD Negeri yang terakreditasi B di kecamatan Situraja. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan purposive sampling, sehingga terpilih SDN Malaka dan SDN Warungketan. Instrumen yang digunakan meliputi soal tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis, observasi kinerja guru, dan lembar aktivitas siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan PBL memberikan pengaruh positif terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa. Hal ini ditunjukkan oleh perolehan N-Gain sebesar 0,59 pada kelas eksperimen dan 0,39 pada kelas kontrol, yang keduanya termasuk dalam kategori sedang. Dalam hal ini terdapat perbedaan pengaruh pendekatan PBL dengan pembelajaran konvensional terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa. This study is motivated by the low level of students’ mathematical problem-solving ability, particularly in the topics of pictograms and bar charts. Students continue to face difficulties in understanding problems and solving issues related to data. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) approach on students’ mathematical problem-solving ability. The research method employed is a quasi-experiment with a non-equivalent control group design. The population of this study consisted of all fourth-grade students from B- accredited public elementary schools in Situraja district. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling, resulting in the selection of SDN Malaka and SDN Warungketan. The research instruments included mathematical problem-solving test items, teacher performance observation sheets, and student activity sheets. The findings indicate that the PBL approach has a positive impact on students’ mathematical problem-solving ability. This is evidenced by the N-Gain score of 0.59 in the experimental class and 0.39 in the control class, both of which fall into the medium category. These results show that there is a significant difference in the effect of the PBL approach compared to conventional learning on students’ mathematical problem-solving ability.
