Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara anak usia 4-5 tahun melalui penerapan metode mendongeng menggunakan media Papercraft di TK Permata Sakti Bekasi. Latar belakang penelitian ini didasarkan pada hasil observasi pra siklus yang menunjukkan sebagian besar anak masih berada pada kategori Mulai Berkembang dalam kemampuan berbicara, ditandai dengan kurangnya keberanian berbicara di depan teman, kesulitan menyusun kalimat lengkap, serta keterbatasan kosakata sifat. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus dengan tahapan perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian adalah 8 anak usia 4-5 tahun. Peneliti berperan sebagai pendidik yang melaksanakan tindakan, sedangkan guru kelas berperan sebagai observer yang mencatat perkembangan anak sekaligus membantu pengkondisian anak. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, dokumentasi, dan catatan lapangan, kemudian dianalisis secara deskriptif kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kemampuan berbicara anak setelah penerapan metode mendongeng menggunakan media Papercraft. Pada pra siklus, skor rata-rata kemampuan berbicara anak sebesar 28 dengan kategori Mulai Berkembang. Setelah tindakan pada siklus I, rata-rata meningkat menjadi 35 dengan kategori Berkembang Sesuai Harapan. Pada siklus II, rata-rata mencapai 44 dengan kategori Berkembang Sangat Baik. Peningkatan ini terlihat pada aspek keberanian berbicara, kemampuan menceritakan kembali isi cerita, penggunaan kosakata yang lebih variatif, serta partisipasi aktif dalam percakapan kelompok. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan metode mendongeng menggunakan media Papercraft efektif untuk mengembangkan kemampuan berbicara anak usia 4–5 tahun. Penelitian ini juga memberikan kontribusi praktis bagi guru PAUD dalam menerapkan strategi pembelajaran yang kreatif, menyenangkan, dan sesuai dengan karakteristik perkembangan anak. : This study aims to improve the speaking skills of children aged 4–5 years through the application of the storytelling method using Papercraft media at TK Permata Sakti Bekasi. The background of this research is based on pre-cycle observations which showed that most children were still in the Beginning to Develop category in speaking skills, characterized by a lack of confidence when speaking in front of peers, difficulty in forming complete sentences, and limited vocabulary, especially adjectives. This study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) carried out in two cycles with the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this study were 8 children aged 4–5 years. The researcher acted as the teacher who implemented the action, while the classroom teacher served as the observer who recorded the children’s progress and helped in classroom management. Data were collected through observation, documentation, and field notes, and were analyzed descriptively using qualitative and quantitative approaches. The results showed an improvement in children’s speaking ability after the application of storytelling with Papercraft media. In the pre-cycle, the average speaking score was 28 in the Beginning to Develop category. After the first cycle, the average increased to 35 in the Developing as Expected category. In the second cycle, the average reached 44 in the Very Well Developed category. These improvements were evident in children’s confidence to speak, their ability to retell stories, the use of more varied vocabulary, and their active participation in group conversations. It can be concluded that the application of storytelling using Papercraft media is effective in developing the speaking skills of children aged 4–5 years. This research also provides practical contributions for early childhood teachers in implementing creative and enjoyable learning strategies in accordance with the developmental characteristics of children.
