Abstract
Kata Kunci: Down Syndrome, Interaksi Sosial, Pendidikan Inklusif, Pembelajaran Seni, Intervensi People with Down Syndrome generally experience social barriers, such as difficulty communicating, tending to be selective in choosing friends, preferring to play alone, avoiding social contact with new people, and showing fear and withdrawal when meeting strangers. Based on these conditions, this study aims to analyze the role of dance classes at the Log In Foundation in shaping and strengthening the social interactions of individuals with Down Syndrome. The focus of the study includes the initial conditions of social interaction and communication, supportive classroom environmental factors, patterns and forms of interaction that develop, and the implementation of programs in facilitating the strengthening of social relationships. The research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method, involving five dance class participants, trainers, and parents. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawing techniques. The results of the study show that some dance class participants already had basic social interaction skills before joining the class, although these varied. The main supporting factors included the role of the instructor as a social facilitator, multisensory teaching methods, and dance elements (rhythm, repetitive movements, music) that encouraged joint participation. Interaction patterns developed from vertical to horizontal and circular, supported by the positive response of individuals with Down Syndrome to inclusive and enjoyable dance exercises. The classes were conducted consistently and adaptively according to the characteristics of the participants, creating a safe, supportive, and pressure-free environment. The study concluded that dance classes can be a means of strengthening the social interaction of individuals with Down Syndrome through the adaptation of social interaction factors such as imitation, suggestion, identification, and sympathy.
