Abstract

Latar belakang penelitian ini adalah kurangnya kemampuan membaca cerpen dari aspek penjiwaan, lafal dan intonasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan: (1) kemampuan membaca cerpen sebelum menggunakan modél explicit intruction; (2) kemampuan membaca cerpen sesudah menggunakan model explicit intruction; (3) Beda signifikan antara sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan model explicit intruction. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kuasi eksperimen atau eksperimen semu. Teknik yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik tes. Sumber data yang diambil adalah siswa kelas X TKJ-1 SMK Negeri 1 Tirtajaya Karawang sebanyak 37 siswa. Untuk mengetahui kemampuan siswa dalam membaca cerpen dari aspek penjiwaan, lafal, intonasi digunakan analisis data dengan cara analisis statistik, yaitu uji normalitas data mengunakan chi-kuadrat, uji homogenitas data menggunakan uji F, dan uji hipotesis menggunakan uji t. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, diperoleh data yang menggambarkan peningkatan kemampuan siswa antara prates dan postes. Dalam prates, hanya 14 siswa saja yang mampu membaca cerpen atau sebesar 38%, sedangkan dalam postes jumlah siswa yang mampu membaca cerpen meningkat menjadi 32 siswa atau sebesar 86%. Berdasarkan hasil uji t, terbukti bahwa titung (10,74) > ttabel (2,42), artinya hipotesis diterima. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, dapat dikatakan bahwa model explicit intruction bisa meningkatkan kemampuan membaca cerpen dari aspek penjiwaan, lafal, intonasi pada siswa kelas X TKJ-1 SMK Negeri 1 Tirtajaya Karawang tahun ajaran 2014/2015. The background this study was the lack of ability to read short stories which votes by the soul aspect of pronunciation and intonation. This research aims to describe : (1) skills to read of short stories before used explicit instruction models; (2) skills to read short stories after used explicit instruction; (3) contradiction between before and after used explicit instruction models. This research used kuasi experiment. This research used test technique. The data source that is taken is grade X TKJ-1 SMK Negeri 1 Tirtajaya Karawang as many 37 students. To find out student ability in reading the short stories from the aspect of the soul, pronunciation, and intonation used data analysis by means of statistical analysis. Analysis of the data used a normality test chi-square, test data using its homogeneity, test hypothesis and test used the F and t. based on research result, obtained the data that describes an increase in capacity, explain raising of students between pretes and postes. Just 14 persons who able to read short stories or 38%, while the number of student who can afford postes reading short stories was increase to 32 students or 86%. Be based on result of t test, that explain that titung (10,74) > ttabel (2,42), its mean the hypothesis was accepted based on reseach result. This means that the explicit instruction models can incrase of ability to read short stories from aspect of the soul, pronun citation and intonation in grade X TKJ-1 SMK Negeri 1 Tirtajaya Karawang in school year 2014/2015.
