    Abstract

    Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya pemahaman konsep dalam pembelajaran. Model pembelajaran Project Based Learning (PjBL) digunakan sebagai altematif dalam penerapan pembelajaran IPAS (Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam dan Sosial). Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk: (1) mendeskripsikan pelaksanaan pembelajaran menggunakan model Project Based Learning , dan (2) menganalisis perbedaan pemahaman konsep siswa antara pembelajaran menggunakan model Project Based Learning dan pembelajaran konvensional. Metode yang digunakan adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan desain nonequivalent control group. Populasi penelitian mencakup siswa kelas IV sekolah dasar di Kecamatan Astana Anyar, Kabupaten Bandung. Sampel penelitian adalah siswa kelas IV pada salah satu sekolah dasar di Kecamatan Astana Anyar, terdiri dari 20 siswa di kelas eksperimen dan 20 siswa di kelas kontrol. Instrumen penelitian meliputi lembar observasi dan tes pemahaman konsep. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) pelaksanaan pembelajaran di kelas eksperimen dengan model Project Based Learning berdampak positif terhadap kinerja guru (kategori sangat baik) dan aktivitas siswa (kategori sangat baik); (2) pemahaman konsep siswa pada kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol mengalami peningkatan, namun terdapat perbedaan signifikan, di mana kelas eksperimen memperoleh nilai rata-rata lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelas kontrol. Penerapan model Project Based Learning juga mendorong siswa lebih aktif selama pembelajaran, mampu menghasilkan produk, serta meningkatkan kolaborasi secara aktif dan kreatif. PjBL tidak hanya meningkatkan pemahaman konsep, tetapi juga menumbuhkan keterampilan abad 21 seperti kerja sama, komunikasi, dan pemecahan masalah. Kata Kunci: Project Based Learning , pemahaman konsep, IPAS, pembelajaran This research is motivated by the importance of understanding concepts in learning. The Project Based Learning (PjBL) learning model is used as an alternative in the application of IPAS (Natural and Social Sciences) learning. The objectives of this study are to: (1) describe the implementation oflearning using the Project Based Learning model, and (2) analyze the difference in students' concept understanding between learning using the Project Based Learning model and cognitive learning. The method used was quasi-experimental with a nonequivalent control group design. The research population includes grade IV elementary school students in Astana Anyar District, Bandung Regency. The research sample was grade IV students at an elementary school in Astana Anyar District, consisting of 20 students in the experimental class and 20 students in the control class. The research instruments include observation sheets and concept comprehension tests. The results of the study showed that: (1) the implementation of learning in experimental classrooms with the Project Based Learning model had a positive impact on teacher performance (very good category) and student activities (very good category); (2) students' understanding of concepts in the experimental class and the control class improved, but there was a significant difference, where the experimental class obtained a higher average score than the control class. The application of the Project Based Learning model also encourages students to be more active during learning, able to produce products, and increase collaboration active ly and creatively. PjBL not only improves conceptual understanding, but also fosters 21st century skills such as collaboration, communication, and problem solving.
