    Abstract

    Indonesia merupakan negara tropis dengan paparan sinar ultraviolet (UV) tinggi yang menyebabkan terjadinya percepatan proses penuaan melalui pembentukan radikal bebas. Upaya pencegahan penuaan dapat diatasi menggunakan sediaan topikal yang mengandung antioksidan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji aktivitas antioksidan minyak atsiri cengkeh (Syzygium aromaticum), kayu manis (Cinnamomum cassia), dan rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) yang diformulasikan ke dalam serum wajah anti-aging berbasis emulsi oil-in-water. Serum anti-aging minyak atsiri yang digunakan terdiri atas lima formula, yaitu 0,1%; 0,5%; 1%; 1,5%; dan 2%. Evaluasi fisik sediaan serum meliputi uji karakteristik aroma, tekstur, dan warna serta uji waktu kering (dry time test), sedangkan stabilitas sediaan diuji melalui pengukuran pH, homogenitas, dan viskositas. Aktivitas antioksidan minyak atsiri dan sediaan serum dianalisis dengan metode DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl). Hasil menunjukkan bahwa serum minyak cengkeh, kayu manis, dan rosemary berwarna putih dengan aroma khas. Ketiga serum memiliki tekstur liquid-thick dan menunjukkan waktu kering 59,33-109,66 detik. Semua formula memiliki pH yang sesuai pH kulit (6,12-6,31), menunjukkan homogenitas yang baik, dan memiliki viskositas 2851,79 – 4244,64 cP, sesuai dengan SNI 14-4399-1996. Nilai IC50 pada konsentrasi 2% menunjukkan aktivitas antioksidan tertinggi untuk masing-masing minyak atsiri, yaitu 87,59 ppm (serum cengkeh), 87,59 ppm (serum kayu manis), dan 94,66 ppm (serum rosemary). Ketiga varian serum memiliki keunggulan masing-masing dalam akseptabilitas kelembaban, oiliness, kemudahan pengaplikasian, dan rasa senang (kenyamanan) serta memiliki tingkat keamanan yang baik dan dapat diterima. Indonesia is a tropical country with high ultraviolet (UV) exposure, which accelerates skin aging through the formation of free radicals. Preventive strategies against aging can be achieved using topical formulation containing antioxidants. This study aims to evaluate the antioxidant activity of clove (Syzygium aromaticum), cinnamon (Cinnamomum cassia), and rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) essential oils formulated into an oil-in-water emulsion-based anti-aging facial serum. The serum formulations consisted of five concentration levels of essential oils: 0.1%, 0.5%, 1%, 1.5%, and 2%. Physical evaluation of the serum included aroma, texture, color, and dry time test, while stability testing was assessed by measuring pH, homogeneity, and viscosity. The antioxidant activity of both essential oils and serum preparations was analyzed using the DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) assay. The results indicate that clove, cinnamon, and rosemary oil have a white distinctive aroma. All three variant serums exhibit a liquid-thick texture and a drying time ranging from 59,33 – 109,66 seconds. All maintain a pH level suitable for skin (6,12–6,31), demonstrate good homogeneity, and have a viscosity between 2851,79 – 4244,64 cP, in accordance with SNI 14-4399-1996 standards. At a concentration of 2%, the IC₅₀ values indicate the highest antioxidant activity for each essential oil serum, with 87.59 ppm for clove, 87.59 ppm for cinnamon, and 94.66 ppm for rosemary. Each serum variant offers distinct advantages in terms of moisture retention, oiliness, ease of application, and sensory comfort white demonstrating a high level of safety and overall acceptability.
