Abstract
Pembelajaran IPA di abad ke-21 menuntut peningkatan kualitas sumber daya manusia, salah satunya melalui penguatan literasi sains. Hasil studi pendahuluan yang telah dilakukan menunjukkan bahwa berdasarkan PISA 2018, tingkat literasi sains peserta didik di Indonesia tergolong rendah. Untuk meningkatkan relevansi materi dengan pengalaman nyata, pembelajaran IPA dapat diintegrasikan dengan konteks kehidupan sehari-hari, salah satunya melalui pembelajaran berbasis etnosains. Budaya lokal di Desa Sindangasih yang diangkat adalah pembuatan gula merah. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis efektivitas pembelajaran etnosains ruang lingkup pembuatan gula merah dalam meningkatkan literasi sains siswa sekolah dasar. Metode yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif dengan desain One Group Pretest-Posttest. Sampel penelitian adalah seluruh peserta didik kelas IV dan V SDN 3 Sindangasih menggunakan teknik total sampling. Instrumen berupa soal literasi sains mengacu pada indikator PISA 2018. Analisis data dilakukan dengan pemodelan Rasch menggunakan teknik racking dan stacking. Hasil uji normalitas pada posttest menunjukkan data tidak berdistribusi normal sehingga digunakan uji non-parametrik uji Wilcoxon. Analisis stacking menunjukkan nilai yang signifikansi 0,000 < 0,05 yang hasilnya sama dengan uji Wilcoxon, sehingga (Ha) diterima, menandakan adanya peningkatan kemampuan literasi sains siswa. Hasil analisis racking menunjukkan perubahan positif pada tingkat kesulitan setiap butir soal. Penelitian ini membuktikan bahwa pembelajaran etnosains berbasis budaya lokal pembuatan gula merah efektif dalam meningkatkan literasi sains siswa sekolah dasar. Science learning in the 21st century requires improving the quality of human resources, one of which is through strengthening scientific literacy. The results of preliminary studies conducted show that, based on PISA 2018, the level of scientific literacy among students in Indonesia is relatively low. To increase the relevance of the material to real-life experiences, science learning can be integrated with everyday life contexts, one of which is through ethnoscience-based learning. The local culture in Sindangasih Village highlighted in this study is palm sugar production. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of ethnoscience learning within the scope of palm sugar production in improving elementary school students’ scientific literacy. The method used was quantitative with a One Group Pretest-Posttest design. The research sample consisted of all fourth- and fifth-grade students at SDN 3 Sindangasih using a total sampling technique. The instrument used was a set of scientific literacy questions referring to the PISA 2018 indicators. Data analysis was carried out using the Rasch model with racking and stacking techniques. The normality test results on the posttest showed that the data were not normally distributed; therefore, a non-parametric Wilcoxon test was used. The stacking analysis showed a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, which was consistent with the Wilcoxon test results, thus (Ha) was accepted, indicating an improvement in students’ scientific literacy skills. The racking analysis results showed a positive change in the difficulty level of each item. This study proves that ethnoscience learning based on the local culture of palm sugar production is effective in improving the scientific literacy of elementary school students.
