Abstract

Latar belakang penelitian ini adalah kurangnya kemampuan menulis karangan eksposisi siswa kelas VIII C SMPN 12 Bandung tahun ajaran 2014/2015. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan menulis karangan eksposisi siswa kelas VIII C SMPN 12 Bandung tahun ajaran 2014/2015 sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan model pembelajaran quantum teaching, peningkatan kemampuan menulis karangan eksposisi siswa kelas VIII C SMPN 12 Bandung tahun ajaran 2014/2015 antara sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan model pembelajaran quantum teaching, dan signifikansi model pembelajaran quantum teaching dalam menulis karangan eksposisi siswa kelas VIII C SMPN 12 Bandung tahun ajaran 2014/2015. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kuasi eksperimen dengan desain penelitian one-group pretest and posttest. Tekniknya adalah tes. Untuk mengetahui kemampuan siswa dalam menulis karangan eksposisi digunakan analisis data dengan cara analisis statistik, yaitu uji normalitas data menggunakan chi-kuadrat, uji homogenitas data menggunakan uji F, dan uji hipotesis menggunakan uji t. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, diperoleh data yang menggambarkan peningkatan kemampuan siswa antara pretest dan posttest. Dalam pretest, belum ada siswa yang mencapai nilai ≥ 70, sedangkan dalam posttest, jumlah siswa yang mencapai nilai ≥ 70 dalam menulis karangan eksposisi meningkat menjadi 27 siswa atau sebesar 93%. Berdasarkan hasil uji t, terbukti bahwa thitung (21,80) > ttabel (2,47), artinya hipotesis alternatif (Ha) diterima, sedangkan (H0) ditolak. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, dapat dikatakan bahwa model pembelajaran quantum teaching bisa meningkatkan kemampuan menulis karangan eksposisi siswa kelas VIII C SMPN 12 Bandung tahun ajaran 2014/2015. Kata Kunci: quantum teaching, karangan eksposisi ABSTRACT The background of this study is the lack of ability in writing exposition text of VIII grade students in SMPN 12 Bandung. The method that is used in this study is quasi-experimental. The purpose of this study is to discribe writing ability in exposition text of VIII C grade students in SMPN 12 Bandung academic year 2014/2015 before and after quantum teaching model is applied, the increasing of writing ability in exposition text of VIII C grade students in SMPN 12 Bandung academic year 2014/2015 before and after quantum teaching model is applied, and the significance of quantum teaching learning model to increase writing ability in exposition text of VIII C grade students in SMPN 12 Bandung academic year 2014/2015. The technique is test. To know the student’s ability in writing exposition text, data analysis is used with statistic analysis, which are chi-square for normality data test, F-test for homogeneity data test, and t-test for hypothesis data test. Based on the result of the study, the increasing of student’s ability is gathered from the data of pre-test and post-test. In pre-test, there are no students who achieve ≥ 70, meanwhile in post-test, the number of students who get ≥ 70 in writing exposition text are increase until 27 students or 93%. Based on the result of the t-test, shown that tvalue (21,80) > ttable (2,47), it means that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted, meanwhile (H0) is rejected. From the result of the study, it can be conclude that learning model of quantum teaching is able to increase the ability in writing exposition text of VIII C grade students in SMPN 12 Bandung academic year 2014/2015.
