    Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of perceived stress on self-diagnosis mediated by mental health literacy. This study used a quantitative approach and correlational method, with 384 students in Indonesia as respondents. The instruments used in this study were the Perceived Stress Scale-10 by Cohen et al. (1983) which has been adapted into Indonesian by Hakim et al. (2024), the Self-Diagnosis Scale by Agustina (2020), and the Multicomponent Mental Health Literacy Measure by Jung et al. (2016) which has been adapted into Indonesian by Maya (2020). The analysis technique used was simple and multiple linear regression analysis, with the help of SPSS software. The results of the regression analysis of perceived stress on self-diagnosis showed a significance value of 0.073 (>0.05) with a B coefficient of 0.096. After adding mental health literacy as a mediating variable, the significance value of perceived stress on self-diagnosis remained at 0.073 (>0.05) with a coefficient B of 0.096. The results also showed no significant effect between variables. Thus, it can be concluded that mental health literacy cannot mediate the effect of perceived stress on self-diagnosis.
