Abstract

Kebutuhan informasi menjadi aspek penting untuk mendorong terjadinya aktivitas pencarian informasi. Goodreads sebagai media informasi memungkinkan penggunanya untuk mencari informasi mengenai ulasan buku yang relevan sesuai kebutuhan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana hubungan perilaku pencarian informasi dengan pemenuhan kebutuhan informasi pada platform Goodreads. Munculnya berbagai sumber informasi yang dapat diakses dengan mudah melalui internet menjadi salah satu alasan peneliti untuk mengetahui bagaimana perilaku pencarian informasi yang dilakukan oleh pengguna platform Goodreads dan hubungannya dengan pemenuhan kebutuhan informasi. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif korelasional dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa kuesioner yang dibagikan secara daring. Pemilihan sampel dilakukan menggunakan teknik simple random sampling dengan bantuan program Microsoft Excel. Sebanyak 78 anggota komunitas Baca Itu Seru yang merupakan pengguna platform Goodreads menjadi responden dalam penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya hubungan yang kuat dan signifikan antara perilaku pencarian informasi dengan pemenuhan kebutuhan informasi pada platform Goodreads. Perilaku pencarian informasi yang meliputi tahap inisiasi, seleksi, eksplorasi, formulasi, koleksi, dan presentasi secara keseluruhan berada dalam kategori baik. Selain itu, pemenuhan kebutuhan informasi yang meliputi kebutuhan kognitif, afektif, integrasi personal, integrasi sosial, dan kebutuhan berkhayal juga berada dalam kategori baik. Information needs is an important aspect in encouraging information searching activities. Goodreads, as an information medium, allows its users to search for information about relevant book reviews according to their needs. The purpose of this study is to determine how information searching behavior relates to the fulfillment of information needs on the Goodreads platform. The emergence of various information sources that can be easily accessed via the internet is one of the reasons researchers sought to understand how information searching behavior is conducted by Goodreads platform users and its correlation with information needs fulfillment. The research method used was quantitative correlational, with data collection techniques involving an online questionnaire. The sample selection was carried out using a simple random sampling technique with the assistance of Microsoft Excel. A total of 78 members of the Baca Itu Seru community, who are users of the Goodreads platform, served as respondents in this study. The results of the study showed a strong and significant correlation between information searching behavior and the fulfillment of information needs on the Goodreads platform. Information searching behavior, which includes the stages of initiation, selection, exploration, formulation, collection, and presentation, is overall categorized as good. Additionally, the fulfillment of information needs, which includes cognitive, affective, personal integration, social integration, and escapist needs, is also categorized as good.
