Abstract
This study aims to explore the role and involvement of fathers in the early childhood care of children with special needs, particularly those exhibiting symptoms of hyperactivity. The research employs a qualitative approach with a case study method to conduct an in-depth investigation in a real-world context. The study was carried out at Taman Cimuncang Indah, Serang, Banten, with three subjects: SR (a 5-year-old child with hyperactivity symptoms, not diagnosed as part of ADHD or ADD), SR's father (RM), and SR's mother (N). Data was collected through participatory observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation of the father's and child's activities. The data was analyzed using triangulation techniques to ensure validity. The results indicate that father involvement is crucial in managing the child's hyperactive behavior through physical activities and daily interactions that strengthen emotional bonds. However, challenges such as emotional regulation, time management, and societal stereotypes regarding the father's role require further attention. Therefore, positive parenting training for fathers and a responsive approach to the child's needs are essential to improve the effectiveness of parenting.
