    Abstract

    Perancangan pemandugelombang berstruktur planartelahbanyak digunakan untukberbagaimacam aplikasi.Terutama digunakan dalam sistem telekomunikasi.Penelitian ini memfokuskanpadaperancangan pemandu gelombang optik berstruktur planar (planar waveguide)dengan tipe strip-loaded guide yang berbahan polimer. Pemandu gelombang optik berstruktur planar terdiri dari core yang berbahan polimer yaitu polyimide dengan indeks bias 1.78, substrat yaitu SiO_2 dengan indeks bias 1.5 dan cladding yaitu udara dengan indeks bias 1. Perancangan dilakukan menggunakan pemograman wolfram mathematica. Metode yang digunakan adalahstep index dengan menggunakan Marcatili’s method dan penurunan persamaan Maxwell, sehingga bisa diperoleh field profilesertamodal dispersion pada pemandu gelombang optik tersebut. Dariperancangan diketahui bahwa untuk memperoleh keadaan single mode diperlukan tinggi 1.09 µm. Hasil ini menjadi acuan dalam fabrikasi dimana untuk fabikrasi pemandu gelombang optik berstruktur planar digunakan beberapa proses seperti wafer cleanig, oksidasi, spin coating, photoresist, photo exposure, etching, resist strip, dan curing. Hasil fabrikasi diperoleh nilai tinggi waveguide = 1.15 µm dengan beberapa variasi lebar yaitu 17.28 µm, 20.79 µm, 34.65 µm, dan 53.60 µm. Setelah fabrikasi dilakukan resimulasi untuk memastikan keadaan singlemode pada waveguide tersebut. Keadaaan single mode ini dapat digunakan dalam sistem telekomunikasi karena lebih reliabel, stabil, cepat, dan jauh jangkauannya.
    The design of planar waveguides structure has been widely used for various applications. Mainly, it is used in telecommunications systems. This study focuses on the design of structured planar optical waveguides with the type of strip-loaded guide that was made from polymer with a polyimide type where the refractive index is 1.78, 〖SiO〗_2 with refractive index 1.5 and air with refractive index 1 using wolfram mathematica programming. The method that used in the design of optical waveguides is the step index that using Marcatili's method and from a decrease in Maxwell's equations, which can be obtained field profile and capital dispersion on the optical waveguides. From the design that is known to obtain the necessary state high single mode 1:09 µm. This is a reference in which the fabrication of optical waveguides for fabikrasi planar structure used several processes such as wafer cleanig, oxidation, spin coating, photoresist, photo exposure, etching, resist strip, and curing. The high values obtained waveguide is 1.15 µm with some variation of the width of lm 17.28, 20.79 µm, 34.65µm, and 53.60 µm. After fabrication is done resimulation to ensure state of the single mode in the waveguide. Circumstances a single mode can be used in telecommunications systems for a more reliable, stable, fast, and far-reaching.
