Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis motivasi siswa dalam penerapan constructive retrieval pada materi daur biogeokimia serta dampaknya terhadap perkembangan concept image dan kemampuan problem solving siswa. Constructive retrieval merupakan strategi belajar yang menggabungkan latihan pengambilan kembali informasi (retrieval practice) dengan tugas konstruktif (constructive task) untuk memperkuat pemahaman faktual dan konseptual. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian mix methods eksplanatori dengan melibatkan dua kelompok siswa kelas X pada pembelajaran daur biogeokimia, khususnya materi daur karbon, air, dan nitrogen. Instrumen yang digunakan meliputi kuesioner motivasi, tes concept image, dan tes problem solving. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa motivasi siswa terhadap penerapan constructive retrieval berada pada kategori tinggi, terutama pada aspek motivasi terhadap nilai dan motivasi untuk berprestasi. Siswa yang mengikuti constructive retrieval menunjukkan perkembangan concept image yang lebih utuh dan kemampuan problem solving yang lebih baik dibandingkan siswa tanpa constructive retrieval. Analisis korelasi mengungkapkan bahwa motivasi siswa memiliki hubungan positif dan signifikan terhadap perkembangan concept image dan kemampuan problem solving. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa constructive retrieval berpotensi menjadi strategi belajar yang efektif dalam meningkatkan gambaran konsep di benak siswa (concept image) dan kemampuan problem solving pada materi daur biogeokimia. This study aims to analyze students’ motivation in the implementation of constructive retrieval on the topic of biogeochemical cycles, as well as its impact on the development of concept image and problem-solving abilities. Constructive retrieval is a learning strategy that combines retrieval practice with constructive tasks to reinforce both factual and conceptual understanding. This research uses an explanatory mixed-methods design, involving two groups of tenth-grade students in learning activities about biogeochemical cycles, specifically focusing on the carbon, water, and nitrogen cycles. The instruments used include a motivation questionnaire, a concept image test, and a problem-solving test. The results show that students’ motivation toward the use of constructive retrieval falls into the high category, especially in aspects related to grade motivation and achievement (career) motivation. Students who participated in constructive retrieval demonstrated a more coherent concept image and better problem-solving abilities compared to students who did not experience this strategy. Correlation analysis revealed that student motivation has a positive and significant relationship with both the development of concept image and problem-solving ability. This study concludes that constructive retrieval has the potential to be an effective learning strategy for improving students’ mental representation of concepts (concept image) and their problem-solving abilities in biogeochemical cycle topics.
