Sauzan Salsabila Azzahra, - (2025) ANALISIS PERUBAHAN LUASAN MANGROVE PANTAI INDAH KAPUK TAHUN 2020-2024 MENGGUNAKAN GOOGLE EARTH ENGINE. S1 thesis, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia.
Abstract
Mangrove ecosystems play a crucial role in maintaining coastal environmental stability by acting as a natural barrier against abrasion and providing a habitat for diverse species, including in the Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) area of North Jakarta. However, pressures from reclamation and ecotourism activities pose a potential for environmental degradation that requires scientific analysis. This study aims to analyze changes in the extent and density of mangroves in the Pantai Indah Kapuk area from 2020 to 2024 using Sentinel-2A satellite imagery processed via Google Earth Engine. A descriptive quantitative method with remote sensing quantitative analysis was employed to generate numerical data that systematically describes the facts, characteristics, and changes of the research subject. The Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) was used to measure vegetation density levels, while land cover classification was performed using a supervised classification method with the Random Forest algorithm. Accuracy validation was conducted through a confusion matrix and field surveys (ground checks). The results indicate that over the five-year period, the mangrove area in PIK increased from 336 hectares in 2020 to 338 hectare (2021), 354 hectare (2022), 366 hectare (2023), and 372 hectare (2024), representing a net gain of 36 hectares with an accuracy value of 93-95%. The NDVI value increased from 0.289 (2020) to 0.342 (2024), remaining in the medium-density category but demonstrating a positive trend towards high density. This improvement is attributed to regular planting programs, the success of seedlings from labor-intensive programs, and the natural growth of mangroves in reclamation and newly emerged land areas. In conclusion, the use of Sentinel-2A imagery and Google Earth Engine proved effective for mapping mangroves in PIK. These findings can serve as a basis for policymakers and relevant stakeholders in sustainable coastal management and the conservation of mangrove biodiversity in Pantai Indah Kapuk.
