Abstract

Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di kelas V SDN 1 Ciboogo yang berjumlah 15 orang siswa dengan jumlah siswa laki-laki sebanyak 9 orang, dan jumlah siswa perempuan sebanyak 6 orang. Latar belakang penelitian ini adalah rendahnya kemampuan kognitif siswa pada pembelajaran IPS yang berdampak pada rendahnya hasil nilai belajar siswa dalam pembelajaran IPS. Hal ini diakibatkan oleh metode mengajar guru, yaitu metode konvensional yang berupa ceramah. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana pelaksanaan dan peningkatan kemampuan kognitif dalam pembelajaran IPS dengan menggunakan teknik TPS (Think, Pair, and Share). Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas Model Kemmis & McTaggart melalui tiga siklus. Untuk memperoleh data hasil penelitian, dibuat instrumen pembelajaran dan instrumen pengumpul data. Data dianalisis dengan cara kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Hasil penelitian ini yaitu pelaksanaan pembelajaran selama dilaksanakan penelitian secara umum telah berlangsung dengan baik,serta terdapat peningkatan kemampuan kognitif siswa pada pembelajran IPS selama penelitian berlangsung. Peningkatan kemampuan kognitif siswa pada pembelajaran IPS tersebut dibuktikan dengan nilai rata-rata kelas yang diperoleh pada pembelajaran IPS darisiklus I, siklus II, dan siklus III .Dengan nilai rata-rata kelas di siklus I yaitu 62,27, siklus II 82,80 dan siklus III 87,06. Selain itu, dapat dilihat dari ketuntasan belajar siswa setiap siklus yaitu pada siklus I 66,67%, siklus II 86,67% dan pada siklus III mencapai 93,33%. Diharapkan guru dapat menerapkan teknik TPS (Think, Pair, and Share) dalam pembelajaran IPS, dengan perencanaan dan pelaksanaan yang baik agar kemampuan kognitif siswa pada pembelajaran IPS dapat meningkat. The background of this research is because the low cognitive ability of students to learn Social Science (IPS) subject, which have an impact on the low value of result students in learning of social science. This is caused by the method of teaching the teacher, namely conventional methods such as a lectures. The purpose of this research is determinate how to implement and improve of cognitive ability in learning social science subject using the technique of TPS (Think, Pair and Share). The methods used in this research is the research action type class Kemmis and McTaggart through three cycles. To research data, they made learning instruments and data collection instruments. Data were analyzed by means of quantitative and qualitative. The result of this research in the implementation of learning, during research was conducted in general has been going well, and there was an increase of students cognitive ability on learning social science. The increase of cognitive abilities students in social science it proved by the average value obtained in the learning class from the first cycle, second cycle, and third cycle. The average value on the first cycle is 62,27, second cycle 82,80, and third cycle 87,06. It can be seen also from learning success of students in every cycle. In the first cycle is 66,67%, second cucle 86,67%, and third cycle reaches 93,33%. It is expected that all the teachers can apply the technique of TPS (Think, Pair and Share) in learning social science, with better planning and implementation in order cognitive abilities of students in learning social science can be improve.
