Abstract

Seiring perkembangan zaman, media dan teknologi turut berkembang pesat. Kecanggihan teknologi serta ketersediaan internet memudahkan masyarakat untuk menjangkau informasi secara luas. Namun, di sisi lain, eksistensi budaya lokal semakin tergerus, salah satunya adalah budaya wayang. Fenomena ini dipengaruhi oleh arus globalisasi dan maraknya budaya asing yang masuk melalui media sosial, seperti K-pop, J-pop, maupun budaya Barat yang dianggap lebih trendi oleh remaja. Akibatnya, minat generasi muda terhadap budaya daerah cenderung menurun. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan media alternatif yang inovatif untuk melestarikan budaya lokal agar tetap relevan dengan perkembangan zaman. Salah satu upaya yang ditawarkan dalam penelitian ini adalah penggunaan komik motion sebagai media pelestarian budaya. Metode penelitian yang digunakan Adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan Practice-Led Research, yang menekankan peran peneliti sebagai praktisi aktif dalam menciptakan karya seni sekaligus merefleksikan proses kreatifnya. Tahapan penelitian meliputi eksplorasi ide, perancangan karakter, penulisan naskah, pembuatan storyboard, produksi komik motion, hingga uji coba kepada responden. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa komik motion mampu menarik perhatian remaja karena tampilannya yang interaktif, visual yang modern, serta penyajian cerita yang sesuai dengan tren digital. Selain itu, responden menilai komik motion layak sebagai media edukasi sekaligus hiburan, sehingga berpotensi menjadi sarana strategis dalam menjaga keberlangsungan budaya wayang di era globalisasi ----------- Along with the rapid development of the times, media and technology have also advanced significantly. The sophistication of technology and the availability of the internet have made it easier for society to access information widely. However, on the other hand, the existence of local culture is increasingly fading, one of which is the wayang tradition. This phenomenon is influenced by globalization and the widespread presence of foreign cultures introduced through social media, such as K-pop, J-pop, and Western culture, which are considered more trendy by teenagers. As a result, the younger generation’s interest in local culture tends to decline. Therefore, innovative alternative media are needed to preserve local culture so that it remains relevant in the modern era. One effort offered in this study is the use of motion comics as a medium for cultural preservation. The research method employed is qualitative descriptive with a Practice-Led Research approach, which emphasizes the role of the researcher as an active practitioner in creating artistic works while reflecting on the creative process. The research stages include idea exploration, character design, scriptwriting, storyboard development, motion comic production, and finally, testing with respondents. The results show that motion comics are able to capture teenagers’ attention due to their interactive presentation, modern visuals, and narratives that align with digital trends. Furthermore, respondents considered motion comics feasible as both an educational and entertainment medium, making them a strategic tool to sustain the existence of wayang culture in the era of globalization.
