Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dampak kondisi Fatherless terhadap kepercayaan diri anak usia 5-6 tahun, mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi pembentukan kepercayaan diri dalam situasi tersebut, serta mendeskripsikan mekanisme pembentukan kepercayaan diri pada anak yang tidak memiliki figur ayah. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus, yang dilakukan terhadap tiga partisipan anak usia dini di Kabupaten Purwakarta. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kondisi Fatherless memberikan dampak yang berbeda terhadap perkembangan kepercayaan diri anak, tergantung pada penyebab ketidakhadiran ayah (perceraian, tuntutan pekerjaan, atau secara fisik hadir tetapi tidak menjalankan peran). Anak yang tidak mendapatkan perhatian, bimbingan, serta validasi dari figur ayah cenderung mengalami kesulitan dalam mengekspresikan diri, kurang yakin saat menghadapi tantangan, dan menunjukkan sikap ragu dalam pengambilan keputusan. Faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi kepercayaan diri anak meliputi pola asuh ibu atau wali, pengalaman emosional, konsep diri, dan lingkungan sosial. Mekanisme pembentukan kepercayaan diri dalam kondisi Fatherless banyak bergantung pada peran substitusi dari ibu atau wali,mengekspresikan dengan gambar, serta dukungan lingkungan sekitar. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa ketidakhadiran figur ayah berdampak signifikan terhadap aspek kepercayaan diri anak, namun dapat diminimalkan melalui dukungan emosional, komunikasi positif, dan keterlibatan aktif figur pengasuh lainnya. Hasil ini diharapkan dapat menjadi rujukan dalam pengembangan kepercayaan diri anak serta peningkatan kesadaran akan pentingnya peran ayah dalam pengasuhan anak usia dini. ----- This study aims to examine the impact of Fatherlessness on the self-confidence of children aged 5–6 years, identify the factors influencing the development of self-confidence in such conditions, and describe the mechanisms involved in building self-confidence in the absence of a father figure. This research employed a qualitative approach using a case study method, involving three early childhood participants in Purwakarta Regency. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that Fatherlessness affects children's self-confidence differently depending on the cause of the father's absence (divorce, work demands, or physical presence without active involvement). Children who lack attention, guidance, and validation from a father figure tend to face difficulties in expressing themselves, show uncertainty when facing challenges, and display hesitation in decision-making. Factors influencing children's self-confidence include parenting style by the mother or guardian, emotional experiences, self-concept, and social environment. The development of self-confidence in Fatherless conditions relies heavily on the substitute role of the mother or guardian, the child's expression through drawing, and support from the surrounding environment. The study concludes that the absence of a father figure significantly affects a child’s self-confidence, but these effects can be mitigated through emotional support, positive communication, and active involvement from other caregiving figures. These findings are expected to serve as a reference for fostering children's self-confidence and raising awareness of the crucial role fathers play in early childhood development.
