    Abstract

    Ayam broiler memiliki tingkat pertumbuhan yang tinggi, namun juga memiliki kekurangan rentan terhadap serangan penyakit sehingga diperlukan tambahan nutrisi dan vitamin yang dapat membantu meningkatkan imun ayam. Penggunaan antibiotik diketahui dapat menghasilkan efek samping resistensi antibiotik, sehingga diperlukan alternatif lain untuk menjaga imun ayam yang lebih aman. Tanaman serai merupakan tanaman yang berpotensi sebagai agen imunomodulator yang memiliki aktivitas antioksidan dan antibakteri karena memiliki berbagai senyawa seperti flavonoid dan alkaloid. Tujuan penelitian ini mengkaji pengaruh dari pemberian ekstrak serai terhadap imun ayam broiler yang dilihat dari pertumbuhan dan kondisi hematologi, parameter yang diukur berupa konsumsi makan, minum, pertambahan bobot total, pertumbuhan relatif, jumlah eritrosit, leukosit, hematokrit, dan rasio H/L. Metode yang diterapkan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif eksperimental dengan 5 perlakuan berupa FN (Kontrol negatif), FP (Kontrol positif, penambahan multivitamin), F5% (Penambahan 5% ekstrak serai), F10% (Penambahan 10% ekstrak serai), F15% (Penambahan 15% ekstrak serai) masing-masing ke dalam air minum, dengan objek penelitian berupa ayam broiler umur 1 hari. Hasil statistika menunjukkan pemberian ekstrak serai 10% ke dalam air minum ayam broiler dapat menghasilkan pertumbuhan bobot mutlak dan laju pertumbuhan relatif paling tinggi, begitu pula kondisi hematologi paling baik dan dalam standar normal dibandingkan perlakuan kontrol. Pemberian ekstrak serai dalam air minum ayam broiler dapat meningkatkan pertambahan bobot tubuh dan menjadi agen imunomodulator yang menjaga kondisi kesehatan ayam broiler. Broiler chickens exhibit a high growth rate but are also prone to disease infections, making it necessary to provide additional nutrients and vitamins to support their immune function. The use of antibiotics has been known to cause side effects such as antibiotic resistance, thus safer alternatives are needed to maintain broiler immunity. Lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus) is a plant with potential as an immunomodulatory agent due to its antioxidant and antibacterial activities, attributed to the presence of compounds such as flavonoids and alkaloids. This study aims to examine the effect of lemongrass extract on the immune system of broiler chickens, as assessed through growth and hematological parameters. The measured parameters include feed and water intake, total weight gain, relative growth, erythrocyte count, leukocyte count, hematocrit, and H/L ratio. The method applied is a quantitative experimental design with five treatments: FN (negative control), FP (positive control with multivitamin), F5% (5% extract lemongrass addition), F10% (10% extract lemongrass addition), and F15% (15% extract lemongrass addition), each administered in drinking water. The subjects were day-old broiler chicks. Statistical analysis showed that the addition of 10% lemongrass extract in drinking water resulted in the highest absolute weight gain, relative growth rate, and the most favorable hematological conditions within the normal range compared to control groups. The administration of lemongrass extract in broiler drinking water can enhance body weight gain and act as an immunomodulatory agent that helps maintain the health condition of broiler chickens.
