Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui seberapa produktif dan seberapa tinggi tingkat overfishing yang dilakukan oleh alat tangkap Purse Seine di wilayah Labuan serta melihat Bycatch yang dihasilkan dari kegiatan penangkapan tersebut. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara obersevasi dan pengambilan data dari dinas kelautan dan perikanan di Labuan untuk perhitungan data lebih lanjut, pengambilan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan rumus CPUE untuk mengetahui efektivitas alat tangkap dan rumus MSY untuk mengetahui tingkatan hasil penangkapan agar diketahui apakah termasuk overfishing atau underfishing. Rata-rata hasil tangkapan di Labuan yang menggunakan Purse Seine mendapatkan ikan tongkol (Euthynnus affinis) sebagai tangkapan utama mereka dan tongkol juga menjadi hasil tangkapan dominan selama 2 periode yang diteliti. Dari hasil CPUE terlihat tingkat efektivitas penangkapan di Labuan cukup baik namun, dari hasil MSY diketahui telah terjadinya kegiatan penangkapan yang berlebih akibat dari usaha penangkapan (effort) yang berlebih dilakukan oleh nelayan, terutama nelayan yang menggunakan alat tangkap Purse Seine. This study aims to determine how productive and how high the level of overfishing carried out by Purse Seine fishing gear in the Labuan area and see the Bycatch resulting from these fishing activities. Data collection was carried out by obersevation and data collection from the marine and fisheries office in Labuan for further data calculation, data collection was carried out using the CPUE formula to determine the effectiveness of fishing gear and the MSY formula to determine the level of catch so that it is known whether it includes overfishing or underfishing. The average catch in Labuan using Purse Seine gets tuna (Euthynnus affinis) as their main catch and tuna is also the dominant catch during the 2 periods studied. From the CPUE results, it appears that the level of fishing effectiveness in Labuan is quite good, however, from the MSY results, it is known that overfishing activities have occurred due to excessive fishing effort by fishermen, especially fishermen using Purse Seine gear.
