Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menilai seberapa efektif pendidikan karakter dalam mengatasi bullying di kalangan siswa sekolah dasar. Bullying sendiri merupakan masalah yang cukup serius dan kerap muncul di lingkungan sekolah, yang berpotensi memberikan dampak negatif yang signifikan terhadap aspek psikologis, sosial, serta prestasi akademik peserta didik. Pendidikan karakter menjadi salah satu solusi utama yang sangat krusial dalam menangani perilaku bullying dengan cara membentuk sikap serta perilaku positif pada para siswa. Dalam penelitian ini, digunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus yang bertujuan untuk memberikan pemahaman menyeluruh mengenai bagaimana penerapan pendidikan karakter berperan signifikan dalam mengurangi dan mengatasi bullying di lingkungan sekolah dasar. Penelitian dilakukan dengan observasi langsung di lapangan untuk mengamati perilaku responden serta wawancara mendalam dengan pihak terkait seperti kepala sekolah, wali kelas, dan siswa kelas V untuk memperoleh data kualitatif yang mendukung. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan teknik observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi dari guru kelas V, siswa kelas V dan kepala sekolah SDN Parumasan. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa perilaku bullying yang terjadi di kalangan siswa kelas V muncul dalam berbagai bentuk, baik secara fisik maupun verbal. Untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut, para guru menerapkan strategi pendidikan karakter yang meliputi pemberian nasihat secara bijaksana, teguran, penerapan hukuman yang bersifat mendidik, serta menjadi teladan positif bagi siswa. Selain itu, sekolah telah menjalankan program pendidikan karakter bagi siswa kelas V dengan pendekatan yang menyeluruh, mencakup lingkungan kelas, budaya sekolah yang kondusif, serta keterlibatan masyarakat sekitar. Pendidikan karakter yang diterapkan berbasis kelas dilakukan dengan membiasakan siswa untuk membaca doa sebelum dan setelah proses pembelajaran, menyapa guru yang mengajar sebagai bentuk penghormatan, menanamkan nilai kedisiplinan, serta mendorong perilaku positif dalam keseharian mereka. Sementara itu, pendidikan karakter yang berlandaskan budaya sekolah diwujudkan melalui berbagai kegiatan rutin seperti pelaksanaan upacara bendera, pelaksanaan Shalat Dhuha bersama, senam pagi, kerja bakti, serta peringatan hari-hari besar nasional yang memperkuat rasa kebersamaan dan nasionalisme. Sedangkan, pendekatan pendidikan karakter yang berbasis masyarakat melibatkan peran aktif orang tua dan komite sekolah dalam berbagai kegiatan sosial, termasuk bakti sosial, yang bertujuan mempererat hubungan antara sekolah dan lingkungan sekitar serta menumbuhkan rasa tanggung jawab sosial pada siswa. This study aims to assess how effective character education is in addressing bullying among elementary school students. Bullying itself is a serious problem that often arises in the school environment, which has the potential to have a significant negative impact on the psychological, social, and academic achievements of students. Character education is one of the main solutions that is very crucial in dealing with bullying behaviour by forming positive attitudes and behaviours in students. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study method, aiming to provide a comprehensive understanding of how the implementation of character education plays a significant role in reducing and addressing bullying in elementary schools. The research was conducted by direct observation in the field to observe the respondents' behaviour as well as in-depth interviews with related parties such as the principal, homeroom teacher and grade V students to obtain supporting qualitative data. Data were collected using observation, interview and documentation techniques from grade V teachers, grade V students and the principal of SDN Parumasan. The results of the study revealed that bullying behaviour that occurs among grade V students appears in various forms, both physically and verbally. To overcome the problem, teachers apply character education strategies that include giving wise advice, reprimands, applying educational punishments, and being positive role models for students. In addition, the school has implemented a character education programme for grade V students with a comprehensive approach that includes the classroom environment, a conducive school culture and the involvement of the surrounding community. Classroom-based character education is implemented by getting students used to reading prayers before and after the learning process, greeting teachers as a form of respect, instilling the value of discipline, and encouraging positive behaviour in their daily lives. Meanwhile, character education based on school culture is realized through various routine activities such as the flag ceremony, the implementation of Dhuha prayers together, morning gymnastics, community service, and the commemoration of national holidays that strengthen the sense of togetherness and nationalism. Meanwhile, the community-based character education approach involves the active role of parents and school committees in various social activities, including social services, which aim to strengthen the relationship between the school and the surrounding environment and foster a sense of social responsibility in students.
