    Abstract

    Keterampilan inisiatif dan pengarahan diri pada anak usia dini merupakan salah satu keterampilan life and career skills abad-21. Keterampilan ini memanfaatkan rasa ingin tahu alami, sehingga anak akan terdorong untuk mengambil inisiatif tanpa menunggu arahan dari orang lain. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan gambaran yang komprehensif terhadap peran guru, faktor, tantangan, dan dampak dari pendekatan STEAM terhadap keterampilan inisiatif dan pengarahan diri anak usia dini. Metode yang digunakan yakni mix method desain concurrent embedded dengan partisipan 2 orang guru dan 13 siswa di PAUD Labschool UPI Purwakarta. Metode ini menggabungkan data kualitatif seperti wawancara mendalam, catatan anekdot, dan dokumentasi dengan data kuantitatif berupa profil perkembangan keterampilan inisiatif dan pengarahan diri anak usia dini. Data kualitatif dianalisis menggunakan tahapan dari Cresswell. Sementara, data keterampilan inisiatif dan pengarahan diri dianalisis dengan menghitung persentase kemunculan indikator perilakunya. Hasil dalam penelitian menunjukkan bahwa guru berperan sebagai pendorong kesadaran tanggung jawab dan kemandirian anak, pembimbing dalam mengembangkan pola pikir terstruktur pada anak, pemberi ruang dan dukungan kepada anak untuk bertindak inisiatif dan fasilitator kolaborasi dan komunikasi sosial hal ini memberikan dampak yang positif pada anak, sekitar 92.3% siswa yang menunjukkan sudah muncul, dan hanya 7.7% yang belum menunjukkan keterampilan inisiatif dan pengarahan diri anak usia dini. Faktor yang memengaruhi meliputi faktor internal, seperti karakteristik anak, dan faktor eksternal, seperti dukungan lingkungan dan sumber daya belajar. Guru juga menghadapi tantangan seperti perbedaan perkembangan anak, keterbatasan waktu, sumber daya, serta pelatihan STEAM bagi guru yang belum merata. ----- Initiative and self-direction skills in early childhood are one of the life and career skills of the 21st century. This skill makes use of natural curiosity, so that the child will be encouraged to take the initiative without waiting for directions from others. This study aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the role of teachers, factors, challenges, and impacts of STEAM learning on early childhood initiative and self-direction skills. The method used is a mix method of concurrent embedded design with the participants of 2 teachers and 13 students at PAUD Labschool UPI Purwakarta. This method combines qualitative data such as in-depth interviews, anecdotal notes, and documentation with quantitative data in the form of profiles of initiative skill development and early childhood self-direction. Qualitative data were analyzed using stages from Cresswell. Meanwhile, the data on initiative and self-direction skills were analyzed by calculating the percentage of occurrence of behavioral indicators. The results in the study showed that teachers play a role as drivers of children's awareness of responsibility and independence, supervisors in developing a structured mindset in children, providing space and support for children to act initiatives, and facilitators of collaboration and social communication, this has a positive impact on children, about 92.3% of students who show have emerged, and only 7.7% who have not shown early childhood initiative and self-direction skills. Influencing factors include internal factors, such as the characteristics of the child, and external factors, such as environmental support and learning resources. Teachers also face challenges such as differences in child development, limited time, resources, and uneven STEAM training for teachers.
