Abstract
Kemajuan teknologi saat ini telah mendorong munculnya Generative AI yang kini banyak digunakan mahasiswa untuk membantu pembelajaran. Penelitian ini menganalisis secara komparatif mengenai ChatGPT, Perplexity, dan Gemini AI berdasarkan persepsi mahasiswa mengenai efektivitas, keunggulan dan keterbata-san, serta memberikan rekomendasi penggunaan Generative AI yang paling optimal sesuai dengan kebutuhan akademik. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus tunggal, melibatkan mahasiswa aktif Program Studi Pendidikan Sistem dan Teknologi Informasi angkatan 2021-2024 kampus UPI di Purwakarta.Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Lalu dianalisis menggunakan model interaktif milik Miles dan Huberman dengan bantuan Atlas.TI. Hasilnya menunjukan bahwa ChatGPT unggul dalam memahami materi, tugas berbasis teks, dan responsif, tetapi terbatas dalam referensi. Perplexity efektif menyediakan sumber akademik kredibel, tetapi kurang ramah pengguna. Gemini AI terbatas dalam analisis mendalam tetapi efektif untuk tugas teknis. Pentingnya pemahaman kritis dalam menggunakan Generative AI juga ditekankan untuk menghindari ketergantungan yang menyebabkan melemahnya kemampuan berpikir kreatif dan kritis. ----- The current advancements in technology have driven the emergence of Generative AI, which is now widely used by students to assist in their learning. This study conducts a comparative analysis of ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini AI based on students' perceptions of their effectiveness, advantages, and limitations, and provides recommendations for the most optimal use of Generative AI according to academic needs. The method used is qualitative with a single case study design, involving active students from the Information Systems and Technology Education Program, class of 2021-2024, at UPI's Purwakarta campus. Data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation. The data was then analyzed using Miles and Huberman's interactive model with the assistance of Atlas.TI. The results showed that ChatGPT excels in understanding material, text-based tasks, and responsiveness, but is limited in references. Perplexity effectively provides credible academic sources but is less user-friendly. Gemini AI is limited in deep analysis but effective for technical tasks. The importance of critical understanding in using Generative AI is also emphasized to avoid dependency that weakens creative and critical thinking skills.
