    Abstract

    Masih rendahnya partisipasi siswa laki-laki dalam memilih Program Studi PGPAUD di tengah kebutuhan akan keseimbangan peran guru laki-laki dan guru perempuan di PAUD menjadi isu global ketimpangan pada profesi guru. Ketimpangan ini menunjukkan bahwa minat siswa laki-laki terhadap profesi guru anak usia dini masih sangat terbatas, meskipun peran guru laki-laki turut dibutuhkan dalam mendukung perkembangan optimal anak secara menyeluruh dan kebutuhan guru PAUD di lapangan terus meningkat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh gambaran data mengenai minat dari siswa laki-laki SMA kelas XII di Kecamatan Purwakarta terhadap Program Studi PGPAUD berdasarkan pada status sekolah dan jurusan di SMA. Metode penelitian survei dilakukan dengan memberikan kuesioner tertutup kepada 140 sampel siswa laki-laki SMA kelas XII yang ada di Kecamatan Purwakarta. Kemudian data tersebut diolah serta dianalisis dengan statistik deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 4% siswa laki-laki SMA kelas XII berminat terhadap Prodi PGPAUD. Selanjutnya jika dilihat berdasarkan status sekolah siswa laki-laki kelas XII SMA Negeri 4% dan SMA Swasta 3% berminat pada Prodi PGPAUD, sedangkan berdasarkan pada jurusan sekolah terdapat 6% siswa laki-laki kelas XII di jurusan IPS dan 1% di jurusan IPA yang berminat pada Prodi PGPAUD. Selain itu terdapat tiga faktor yang memungkinkan menjadi pengaruh pada kondisi ini yaitu kesejahteraan dan keterjaminan karir lulusan Prodi PGPAUD, faktor lingkungan sosial keberadaan siswa, dan kurang adanya peran dari Program Studi PGPAUD di kalangan siswa. ----- The low participation of male students in choosing PGPAUD Study Program, amid the need for a balance role between male and female teachers in early childhood education has become a global issue of inequality in the teaching profession. This inequality reflects that male students’ interest in becoming early childhood teachers is still very limited, even though the role of male teachers is essential in supporting the holistic development of children and the demand for qualified early childhood teachers continues to grow. This study aims to provide an overview of the interest of grade XII male senior high school students in Purwakarta District in the PGPAUD Study Program, based on school status and academic majors. The survey method was employed by distributing a closed ended questionnaire to 140 samples of grade XII male senior high school students in Purwakarta District. The data were than processed and analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results showed that 4% of grade XII male senior high school students were interested in the PGPAUD Study Program. Based on school status, 4% of grade XII students of State High School and 3% of Private High School students are interested in the PGPAUD Study Program. Meanwhile based on academic majors, 6% of grade XII male students in the social studies department and 1% in the science department expressed interested in PGPAUD Study Program. Furthermore, three factors were identified that may influence this condition: the perceived welfare and career prospects of PGPAUD Study Program graduates, students’ social environment, and the limited visibility of the PGPAUD Study Program among students.
