Abstract

Penelitan ini bermaksud untuk menganalisis peningkatan kemampuan penalaran dan komunikasi matematis serta self-concept siswa MTs melalui pembelajaran berbasis masalah. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuasi eksperimenpada salah satu MTs Negeri di Kabupaten Subang, dengan disain kelompok kontrol non-ekivalen yang melibatkan 84 siswa kelas VII. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah tes kemampuan penalaran dan komunikasi matematis serta skala self-concept siswa. Analisis statistik yang dilakukan adalah Independent Sample t-test, Uji Mann Whitney, Uji ANOVA satu jalur dan dua jalur. Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh adalah: (1) peningkatan kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa yang memperoleh PBM lebih baik daripada siswa dengan pembelajaran konvensional; (2) terdapat perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan penalaran matematis antara siswa yang memiliki PAM tinggi, sedang dan rendah setelah memperoleh PBM; (3) terdapat interaksi antara pembelajaran (PBM dan konvensional) dengan PAM siswa (tinggi, sedang, rendah) terhadap peningkatan kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa; (4) peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa yang memperoleh PBM lebih baik daripada siswa dengan pembelajaran konvensional; (5) terdapat perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis antara siswa yang memiliki PAM tinggi, sedang dan rendah setelah memperoleh PBM; (6) tidak terdapat interaksi antara pembelajaran (PBM dan pembelajaran konvensional) dengan PAM siswa (tinggi, sedang, rendah) terhadap peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa; (7) peningkatan self concept siswa yang memperoleh PBM sama dengan siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran konvensional. Kata Kunci: PBM, kemampuan penalaran dan komunikasi matematis, self-concept. The purpose of this study was to analyze the improve of reasoning and mathematical communication ability and self-concept of student through problem based learning. This study was a quasi-experimental research on one of the MTs in Subang district, with the design of non-equivalent control group involving 84 students of class VII.The instrument usedis a test ofmathematicalreasoning abilityandcommunicationand students'self-conceptscale.
