    Abstract

    Penelitian tindakan kelas ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan membaca permulaan siswa melalui penerapan metode global berbantuan media pembelajaran Big Book pada mata pelajaran Bahasa Indonesia dengan materi cerita pendek “Gajah dan Semut” serta “Aku Sayang Ibu”. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan baik pada aktivitas belajar maupun kemampuan membaca siswa. Aktivitas siswa meningkat dari kategori tinggi 73,33% pada Siklus I menjadi 83,33% pada Siklus II, yang ditunjukkan melalui keaktifan membaca, ketertarikan terhadap Big Book, serta keberanian bertanya. Aktivitas guru juga mengalami peningkatan dengan pembelajaran yang lebih interaktif dan efektif. Dari segi hasil belajar, kemampuan membaca permulaan siswa mengalami kemajuan, dengan nilai rata-rata 73,24% dan ketuntasan 72% pada Siklus I meningkat menjadi 81,72% dengan ketuntasan 92% pada Siklus II. Dengan demikian, penerapan metode global melalui media Big Book terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan aktivitas dan hasil belajar siswa, khususnya kemampuan membaca permulaan. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan agar guru menerapkan metode global pada berbagai materi pembelajaran lain serta terus meningkatkan keterampilan dalam mengelola pembelajaran yang aktif, interaktif, dan berpusat pada siswa. Membaca Permulaan, Metode Global, Media Big Book. ----- This classroom action research aims to improve students' early reading skills through the application of the global method assisted by Big Book learning media in Indonesian language subjects with the short stories "The Elephant and the Ant" and "I Love Mother" as the material. The results of the study showed a significant increase in both learning activities and students' reading skills. Student activity increased from the high category of 73.33% in Cycle I to 83.33% in Cycle II, which was shown through active reading, interest in Big Book, and courage to ask questions. Teacher activity also increased with more interactive and effective learning. In terms of learning outcomes, students' early reading skills improved, with an average score of 73.24% and 72% completeness in Cycle I increasing to 81.72% with 92% completeness in Cycle II. Thus, the application of the global method through Big Book media has proven effective in improving students' activities and learning outcomes, especially early reading skills. This study recommends that teachers apply the global method to various other learning materials and continue to improve their skills in managing active, interactive, and student-centered learning.
