    Abstract

    The low mathematical communication skills among elementary school students are partly due to the use of conventional learning strategies. Therefore, to address this issue, efforts are needed to implement the Think Talk Write learning strategy. This study aims to determine the improvement in mathematical communication skills by applying learning using the Think Talk Write strategy in data presentation for fourth-grade students in elementary school. The approach used in this study is quantitative with a quasi-experimental research method utilizing a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The total number of participants was 62, while the participants who completed the pretest and posttest were 42, all fourth-grade elementary school students located in a small village named Cianten, Bogor Regency. The instruments and techniques for data collection used in the research are test questions. The research results show: 1) the average results of the improvement in students' mathematical communication in the experimental class are higher than those in the control class after the treatment was implemented. 2) there is a difference in the improvement of students' mathematical communication between the experimental class and the control class. The average results in the experimental class are higher with a high interpretation compared to the control class with a low interpretation. Thus, learning by applying the Think Talk Write strategy has a better role in improving students' mathematical communication skills compared to the control class.
