    Abstract

The prevalence of post-cesarean section (CS) wound dehiscence is reported to range from 1.9% to 7.6% in various countries. Wound dehiscence in post-cesarean section mothers is a serious complication that not only slows physical recovery but also significantly impacts psychological well-being, particularly anxiety. One non-pharmacological intervention proven effective in reducing anxiety is mindfulness therapy. This study aims to describe the effectiveness of mindfulness therapy in reducing anxiety in post-cesarean section mothers with wound dehiscence. The study design is a case report using a nursing care approach that includes assessment, diagnosis, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. Sampling was conducted purposively on a 29-year-old mother who experienced wound dehiscence after her third CS and was treated at Umar Wirahadikusumah General Hospital, Sumedang. Data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews, observations, physical examinations, and completion of the GAD-7 instrument before and after the intervention. The intervention included mindfulness therapy (breathing techniques, body scans, awareness of feelings), wound care education, pain management, and psychosocial support, implemented over four consecutive days. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive qualitative methods by comparing pre- and post-intervention GAD-7 scores and assessing changes in patient behavior and psychological conditions. Results showed a decrease in anxiety scores based on the GAD-7 scale from 13 to 7 after the mindfulness therapy intervention. Conclusion: Mindfulness therapy effectively reduces anxiety in post-cesarean section mothers with wound dehiscence. It is hoped that mindfulness therapy can be integrated into routine nursing care to reduce anxiety and accelerate optimal patient recovery.
