    Abstract

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh implementasi model Problem Based Learning dipadukan dengan media interaktif PhET terhadap peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman matematis siswa sekolah dasar. Fenomena rendahnya pemahaman konsep matematis pada siswa masih menjadi tantangan dalam proses pembelajaran, salah satunya disebabkan oleh dominasi metode pembelajaran konvensional dan minimnya keterlibatan aktif siswa. Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh dua fokus utama, yaitu: (1) mengkaji sejauh mana pengaruh model PBL berbantuan media PhET terhadap peningkatan pemahaman matematis siswa, dan (2) membandingkan peningkatan pemahaman matematis antara siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran berbasis PBL dengan media PhET dan siswa yang menerima pembelajaran konvensional. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan desain nonequivalent control group design. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas IV di SDN 2 Sindangkasih, Kabupaten Purwakarta. Instrumen pengumpulan data berupa tes kemampuan pemahaman matematis. Teknik analisis data dilakukan melalui uji-t untuk mengetahui perbedaan yang signifikan antar kelompok. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model PBL berbantuan media PhET memberikan kontribusi yang signifikan terhadap peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman matematis siswa. Hal ini dibuktikan dari rata-rata skor N-Gain yang diperoleh kelas eksperimen sebesar 64,65, yang berada pada kategori cukup efektif, sedangkan kelas kontrol memperoleh rata-rata skor N-Gain sebesar 39,15, termasuk dalam kategori tidak efektif. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa model yang diterapkan pada kelas eksperimen lebih efektif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman siswa dibandingkan pendekatan konvensional. Dengan demikian, penerapan strategi pembelajaran berbasis masalah yang dikombinasikan dengan media simulasi interaktif terbukti efektif dalam membangun pemahaman konsep matematis secara lebih mendalam dan bermakna. ----- This study aims to analyze the effect of implementing the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model combined with interactive PhET media on improving elementary school students' mathematical understanding. The phenomenon of low conceptual understanding in mathematics remains a challenge in the learning process, which is partly due to the dominance of conventional teaching methods and the lack of active student engagement. This research is driven by two main focuses: (1) to examine the extent to which the PBL model assisted by PhET media influences the improvement of students' mathematical understanding, and (2) to compare the improvement in mathematical understanding between students who receive PBL-based instruction with PhET media and those who are taught through conventional methods. The study employed a quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design. The research subjects were fourth-grade students at SDN 2 Sindangkasih, Purwakarta Regency. The data collection instrument consisted of a mathematical understanding test. Data were analyzed using an independent t-test to determine significant differences between the groups. The findings indicate that the application of the PBL model assisted by PhET media significantly contributes to improving students’ mathematical understanding. This is evidenced by the average N-Gain score of the experimental class, which reached 64.65 and falls into the moderately effective category, while the control class obtained an average N-Gain score of 39.15, categorized as ineffective. These results suggest that the model implemented in the experimental class is more effective in enhancing students' conceptual understanding compared to conventional teaching approaches. Thus, the application of problem-based learning strategies combined with interactive simulation media proves to be effective in fostering deeper and more meaningful mathematical understanding.
