Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya pemahaman konsep peserta didik dalam pembelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Sosial (IPS) di sekolah dasar. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran Cooperative Learning tipe Make a Match terhadap peningkatan pemahaman konsep peserta didik, serta membandingkan hasilnya dengan model Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) yang biasa digunakan di sekolah. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan pendekatan Quasi Experimental dan desain Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari dua kelas IV di SDN 6 Nagrikaler, Kabupaten Purwakarta, masing-masing berjumlah 24 peserta didik. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa tes pilihan ganda sebanyak 10 soal untuk mengukur pemahaman konsep sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan. Data N-Gain tidak berdistribusi normal maka digunakan uji Mann-Whitney U dengan hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara kedua kelas, peserta didik pada kelas eksperimen menggunakan model Make a Match memiliki nilai mean rank sebesar 30,81 sedangkan kelas kontrol yang menggunakan Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) memiliki nilai mean rank 18,19 berarti peningkatan pemahaman konsep kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi. Pengaruh penggunaan model Make a Match melalui uji regresi menunjukkan hasil sebesar 19,2% terhadap peningkatan pemahaman konsep. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa model Make a Match terbukti lebih efektif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman konsep IPS pada peserta didik sekolah dasar dibandingkan model Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD). ----- This research is motivated by the low understanding of the concept of students in learning Social Studies (IPS) in elementary schools. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Cooperative Learning type Make a Match learning model on improving students' concept understanding, as well as comparing the results with the Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) model commonly used in schools. This research uses quantitative method with Quasi Experimental approach and Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The research sample consisted of two fourth grade classes at SDN 6 Nagrikaler, Purwakarta Regency, each totaling 24 students. The instrument used was a multiple choice test of 10 questions to measure concept understanding before and after treatment. N-Gain data is not normally distributed so the Mann-Whitney U test is used with the results showing that there is a significant difference between the two classes, students in the experimental class using the Make a Match model have a mean rank value of 30.81 while the control class using Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) has a mean rank value of 18.19, meaning that the increase in understanding of the concept of the experimental class is higher. The effect of using the Make a Match model through regression tests shows results of 19.2% on increasing concept understanding. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Make a Match model proved to be more effective in improving the understanding of social studies concepts in elementary school students compared to the Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) model.
