    Abstract

Intervensi hand and foot massage diberikan selama lima hari berturut-turut, masing-masing selama 20 menit per hari. Postoperative pain is a major problem often experienced by pediatric patients after undergoing surgery, including appendectomy. This study aims to evaluate the application of hand and foot massage as a non-pharmacological intervention in reducing pain intensity in pediatric patients after appendectomy surgery. The method used is descriptive with a case study approach on one 8-year-old male patient who was treated in the pediatric surgical ward of Gunung Jati Hospital, Cirebon. Data collection was carried out through interviews, direct observation, medical record documentation, and pain scale measurement using the Faces Pain Scale - Revised (FPS-R). Hand and foot massage intervention was given for five consecutive days, each for 20 minutes per day. The results showed that the pain scale decreased gradually from 7 to 3, accompanied by changes in patient behavior to become calmer, more cooperative, and able to sleep more comfortably. In addition, post-operative wounds showed a good healing process without complications. The conclusion of this study shows that hand and foot massage is effective as a non-pharmacological nursing intervention in reducing acute pain in children after appendectomy. This intervention is safe, easy to apply, and supports physiological and psychological recovery in pediatric patients.
