    Abstract

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi gambaran cognitive load siswa dan learning obstacle siswa, SMA dalam memecahkan soal cerita Sistem Persamaan Linear Tiga Variabel (SPLTV), mensintesis learning obstacle siswa serta merancang upaya untuk mengantisipasinya berdasarkan perspektif cognitive load theory. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode fenomenologi. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 24 siswa kelas X yang telah mempelajari materi SPLTV. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik tes, dan teknik non-tes meliputi angket, observasi, wawancara, dan studi dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa mengalami berbagai tingkat cognitive load yang berdampak pada kemampuan menyelesaikan soal cerita SPLTV. Epistemological obstacle terjadi akibat keterbatasan siswa dalam memahami konsep SPLTV, ontogenic obstacle dipengaruhi oleh kesiapan mental dan tingkat kematangan kognitif siswa dalam memelajari materi SPLTV. Sementara didactical obstacle berkaitan dengan desain pembelajaran materi. Penelitian ini juga menemukan bahwa Cognitive load yang tinggi memperburuk learning obstacle, sementara keberadaan learning obstacle menghambat optimalisasi germane cognitive load. Adapun upaya untuk mengantisipasi learning obstacle siswa dalam memecahkan soal cerita SPLTV ditinjau dari cognitive load theory adalah: (1) mengelola intrinsic cognitive load dengan penyederhanaan materi ke dalam langkah-langkah kecil yang lebih mudah diproses (chunking); (2) mengurangi extraneous cognitive load melalui instruksi yang jelas, penggunaan alat bantu visual dan teknologi, serta mendesain pembelajaran berdasarkan prinsip CLT; (3) mengoptimalkan germane cognitive load dengan mendorong refleksi dan latihan bertahap (scaffolding). Upaya ini diharapkan membantu siswa memahami dan menyelesaikan soal cerita SPLTV secara lebih efektif. This study aims to identify the description of students' cognitive load and learning obstacles of high school students in solving Sytem of Linear Equations in Three Variables (SLETV) word problems. synthesizing students' learning obstacles and designing efforts to anticipate them based on the perspective of cognitive load theory. This study uses a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method. The subjects of this study were 24 grade X students who had studied SLETV material. Data collection techniques were carried out using test techniques, and non-test techniques including questionnaires, observations, interviews, and documentation studies. The results of the study showed that students experienced various levels of cognitive load that had an impact on their ability to solve SLETV word problems. Epistemological obstacles occur due to students' limitations in understanding the concept of SLETV, ontogenic obstacles are influenced by students' mental readiness and level of cognitive maturity in studying SLETV material. While didactical obstacles are related to the design of SLETV material learning. This study also found that high cognitive load worsens learning obstacles, while the existence of learning obstacles inhibits the optimization of germane cognitive load. Efforts to anticipate students' learning obstacles in solving SLETV story problems from the perspective of cognitive load theory are: (1) managing intrinsic cognitive load by simplifying the material into smaller steps that are easier to process (chunking); (2) reducing extraneous cognitive load through clear instructions, using visual aids and technology, and designing learning based on CLT principles; (3) optimizing germane cognitive load by encouraging reflection and gradual practice (scaffolding). These efforts are expected to help students understand and solve SLETV word problems more effectively.
