Abstract
Perkembangan teknologi audio menuntut kualitas suara yang semakin baik di tengah lingkungan yang penuh gangguan noise. Keberadaan noise pada sinyal audio dapat menyebabkan ketidaknyamanandan mengganggu persepsi serta kenyamanan pendengar dalam aktivitas sehari-hari. Salah satu solusi untuk meningkatkan kualitas audio adalah dengan menerapkan filter digital, khususnya low-pass filter, guna mereduksi noise pada sinyal audio. Penelitian ini membandingkan performansi dua jenis filter, yaitu Butterworth dan Chebyshev Type-I, pada pengiriman kanal AWGN terhadap kualitas audio. Pengujian dilakukan dengan menambahkan noise pada sinyal audio, lalu memfilter menggunakan kedua jenis filter pada frekuensi cutoff 4 kHz dan 10 kHz. Evaluasi performa dilakukan menggunakan parameter Mean Squared Error dan persepsi kualitas sinyal dengan parameter Subjective Difference Grade. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa filter Butterworth secara konsisten menghasilkan nilai MSE yang lebih kecil yang lebih baik dibandingkan Chebyshev Type-I pada berbagai kondisi SNR dan frekuensi cutoff. Dengan demikian, filter Butterworth terbukti lebih unggul dalam mereduksi noise dan mempertahankan kualitas sinyal audio pada skenario pengiriman kanal AWGN. ----- The advancement of audio technology demands increasingly better sound quality in noisy environments. The presence of noise in an audio signal can cause discomfort and interfere with the listener's perception and comfort in daily activities. One solution to improve audio quality is the application of digital filters, specifically low-pass filters, to reduce noise in the audio signal. This research compares the performance of two types of filters, Butterworth and Chebyshev Type-I, on audio quality when transmitted through an AWGN (Additive White Gaussian Noise) channel. The testing was conducted by adding noise to an audio signal, which was then filtered using both filter types at cutoff frequencies of 4 kHz and 10 kHz.Performance evaluation was carried out using the Mean Squared Error parameter and perceived signal quality with the Subjective Difference Grade parameter. The results showed that the Butterworth filter consistently produced a lower (better) MSE value compared to the Chebyshev Type-I filter under various SNR (Signal-to-Noise Ratio) conditions and cutoff frequencies. Therefore, the Butterworth filter proved to be superior in reducing noise and maintaining audio signal quality in the AWGN channel transmission scenario.
