S1 thesis, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia.

    Abstract

Abstract: Overweight and obesity cases are a global health concern, including in early adulthood (college students). Overweight and obesity occurs due to excessive accumulation of adipose tissue and causes excess body weight from normal, this condition is indicated when BMI reaches >25 kg/m2. Factors that can influence the incidence of overweight and obesity in students are the duration of social media use, emotional eating diet behavior, frequency of junk food consumption, and amount of pocket money. The purpose of this study was to analyze risk factors that correlate with the incidence of overweight and obesity in students at Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI). The selection of UPI students as research subjects was based on a preliminary study that showed problems related to the risk factors to be studied. The research method used was cross-sectional using proportional sampling techniques from 9 faculties with a total of 46 UPI undergraduate students using the Lemeshow formula with a 10% error rate. The statistical test used in the bivariate analysis was the Chi-Square test. The results showed a significant correlation between emotional eating diet behavior (p-value = 0.037) with overweight and obesity. There is no significant correlation between the duration of social media use (p-value = 0.861), frequency of junk food consumption (p-value = 0.732), and the amount of pocket money (p-value = 1.000) with overweight and obesity.
