Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji pengaruh penggunaan metode problem solving terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik SMA kelas X di SMA Negeri 11 Pekanbaru. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan kemampuan berpikir kritis antara peserta didik yang memperoleh pembelajaran ekonomi dengan metode problem solving dan peserta didik yang memperoleh pembelajaran ekonomi dengan metode konvensional (ceramah). Jenis penelitian ini adalah studi kuasi ekperimen dengan desain penelitian nonequivalen control-group design. Sampel dalam penelitian terdiri dari dua kelas X (X.2 dan X.3) di SMA Negeri 11 Pekanbaru dimana penentuan sampel menggunakan teknik Purposive Sampling. Untuk melihat adanya perbedaan kemampuan berpikir kritis antara peserta dididk kelas eksperimen dan peserta didik kelas kontrol maka dilakukan analisis data menggunakan SPSS versi 21.0 dengan pengujian hipotesis melalui statistik parametrik, uji perbedaan rata-rata (paired samples t-test dan independent samples t-test). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, diketahui bahwa kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik sesudah pembelajaran dengan metode problem solving lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan sebelum pembelajaran menggunakan metode problem solving. Kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik sesudah pembelajaran dengan metode ceramah lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan sebelum pembelajaran menggunakan metode ceramah. Kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik yang menggunakan metode problem solving lebih tinggi dibandingkan kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik yang menggunakan metode ceramah. This research reports the influence of the use of problem solving method of critical thinking ability og high school students. This research aims to know the difference between learners critical thinking ability who were treated by using problem solving method and thes of who were treated by using conventional method. This research design applied quasi experiment with nonequivalen control-group design. The sample of this research were two class of ten graduats (X.2 and X.3) in SMA Negeri 11 Pekanbaru who wre selected by using purposive sampling. To see the difference between the critical thinking ability of experimental group and that of control group, the data was analyzed by SPSS version 21.0 with hypothesis testing, parametric statistic through the difference in average (paired samples t-test and the independent samples t-test). The findings show that the critical thinking ability of experimental group is higher after having treatments than before having treatments using the problem solving method. The critical thinking ability of control group is higher after having treatment than before having treatment using the conventional method. The critical thinking of experimental group using the problem solving method is higher than that of control group using the conventional method.
