Abstract

Kemampuan penalaran statistis mahasiswa yang masih rendah merupakan sebuah permasalahan yang menjadi perhatian di dalam penelitian ini. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk menelaah kemampuan penalaran dan disposisi statistis mahasiswa yang belajar dengan pendekatan Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA) berbantuan Fathom. Penelitian ini mengambil dua kelompok sampel yang terdiri dari 32 mahasiswa kelas EDA dan 31 mahasiswa kelas ekspositori pada salah satu sekolah tinggi di kota Cirebon. Hasil pertama menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan penalaran statistis mahasiswa yang belajar dengan pendekatan Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA) berbantuan Fathom lebih baik dibandingkan mahasiswa yang belajar secara ekspositori. Kedua, peningkatan kemampuan penalaran statistis mahasiswa yang belajar dengan pendekatan EDA berbantuan Fathom lebih baik dibandingkan mahasiswa yang belajar secara ekspositori. Ketiga, disposisi statistis mahasiswa kelas EDA dikategorikan baik pada semua dimensi disposisi statistis. Low statistical reasoning ability of students is a matter of concern in this research. The purpose of this research is to examine the students’ ability in statistical reasoning and disposition who learned statistics with Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA) approach and Fathom Assistance. The research took two sample groups, consisting 32 students of EDA class and 31 students of expository class in one of college in Cirebon city. The result shows, first, the students’ statistical reasoning ability under EDA approach and Fathom assistance is higher than those under expository. Second, the students learned statistics under EDA approach and Fathom assistance have higher enhancement in statistical reasoning than those who learned statistics under expository. Third, the students disposition of EDA class is good in all dimentions of statistical disposition.
