    Abstract

    Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah siswa SDIT Widya Cendekia kelas V mengalami peningkatan keterampilan memahami isi cerita bahasa Inggris setelah diterapkannya metode pembelajaran Role Playing dengan bantuan media Literacy Cloud. Pentingnya penguasaan bahasa Inggris di era globalisasi dan perlunya pendekatan pembelajaran yang inovatif untuk meningkatkan pemahaman siswa. Di sekolah dasar bahasa Inggris diajarkan untuk mempersiapkan siswa agar mampu bersaing dalam era globalisasi. Masalah yang kerap dihadapi di sekolah dasar pada saat pembelajaran bahasa Inggris yakni terkait dengan metode dan model pembelajaran. Penelitian ini menggunakan metodologi penelitian kuantitatif dengan desain penelitian yang diterapkan pada penelitian ini yaitu pre-experimental dengan tipe penelitian eksperimen pretest-posttest. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan isi cerita dalam bahasa Inggris masih rendah sebelum menerapkan Role Playing, terlihat pada nilai pre-test 59,54 dan hanya 22,7% siswa yang mencapai KKM. Setelah penerapan metode Role Playing dengan bantuan media Literacy Cloud, kemampuan memahami isi cerita berbahasa Inggris siswa meningkat secara signifikan dengan rata-rata nilai post-test 88,18 dan 95% siswa mencapai KKM. Hasil uji Wilcoxon menunjukkan nilai Z sebesar -4,128 dengan nilai Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) sebesar 0,000 yang lebih rendah dari taraf signifikan 0,05. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan metode Role Playing dengan bantuan media Literacy Cloud berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap peningkatan kemampuan memahami isi cerita berbahasa Inggris siswa kelas V SDIT Widya Cendekia. The purpose of this study was to determine whether SDIT Widya Cendekia grade V students experienced an increase in skills in understanding the content of English stories after the implementation of the Role Playing learning method with the help of Literacy Cloud media. The importance of mastering English in the era of globalization and the need for innovative learning approaches to improve student understanding. In primary schools English is taught to prepare students to compete in the era of globalization. Problems that are often faced in elementary schools when learning English are related to learning methods and models. This study uses quantitative research methodology with the research design applied in this study is pre-experimental with pretest-posttest experimental research type. The results showed that the ability of story content in English was still low before applying Role Playing, seen in the pre-test score of 59.54 and only 22.7% of students reached the KKM. After applying the Role Playing method with the help of Literacy Cloud media, the ability to understand the content of stories in English increased significantly with an average post-test score of 88.18 and 95% of students reached the KKM. The Wilcoxon test results show a Z value of -4.128 with an Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) of 0.000 which is lower than the significant level of 0.05. Thus, it can be concluded that the application of the Role Playing method with the help of Literacy Cloud media has a significant effect on improving the ability to understand the contents of English stories of fifth grade students of SDIT Widya Cendekia.
