Tanti Intan Nurhayati, - (2025) PERBANDINGAN ANTARA EFEKTIVITAS FOOT MASSAGE DAN SLOW STROKE BACK MASSAGE TERHADAP PENURUNAN TEKANAN DARAH PADA PASIEN HIPERTENSI: Systematic Literature Review. S1 thesis, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia.
Abstract

ABSTRACT
Hypertension is a global health problem that requires effective management. Nonpharmacological therapies, such as foot massage and slow stroke back massage (SSBM), offer safe alternatives to lower blood pressure. However, the effectiveness of these two therapies still needs to be compared to determine the more optimal intervention. Aim: To review and synthesize existing research findings on the comparative effectiveness of foot massage therapy intervention with SSBM therapy in patients with hypertension. Methods: The method used is systematic literature review, taken from national and international journals published between 2019-2024 and using the Google schoolar database, Pubmed, Cochrane, SienceDirect, articles that use English and Indonesian. Then the relevant articles were assessed using JBI Critical Appraisal. Results: The results obtained were 14 articles with a low risk of bias. The 14 articles showed that both foot massage and SSBM were effective in reducing systolic and diastolic blood pressure in hypertensive patients. Conclusion: There is no difference in effectiveness between foot massage and slow stroke back massage on lowering blood pressure in patients with hypertension. The effectiveness of both interventions is characterized by significant reduction results (p<0.05), If the priority is a more significant decrease in blood pressure, foot massage is more effective but if the priority is a shorter session duration, slow stroke back massage can be an option, and Foot massage shows superiority over slow stroke back massage in terms of modulation pathways.
