Abstract

The biggest challenge post-reform government of the Republic of Indonesia is a democratic demands at each joint government and society. In response, governments and communities around the joints must be collaborative in the nation and participate in building a democratic state. Civic education as the formal education that prepares citizens to be able to participate in the development of democracy, it still leaves the task to other joints in the government and society to do the coaching. South Tangerang Democracy School program is one of the main forms of education that support coaching citizentship civic participation of citizens. Researchers in this case decided to conduct a study of South Tangerang Democracy School program with the formulation of the problem, among others: (1) How to fostering civic participation conducted by the Democracy School South Tangerang?; (2) How Democracy School curriculum developed South Tangerang in teaching and learning participation as a Civics coaching learners?; (3) How does the development of civic participation learners Democracy School South Tangerang?; (4) How do the problems encountered during the process of fostering participation in the School of Civics Democracy South Tangerang?; (5) How alleviation issues conducted during the development process of civic participation of learners in South Tangerang Democracy School?. The study was conducted using a qualitative approach with descriptive analytical method. The approach and methods used should be able to peel and present exposure fostering civic participation activities conducted by the Democracy School program South Tangerang following things concerned in accordance with the formulation of the problem. Thus the results of these studies indicate that: (1) Democracy Schools Program South Tangerang to guide civic participation in the program year through the implementation of adult education methods to shape and outclasinclass learning that is directly in contact with the South Tangerang City public issues, (2) The curriculum is South Tangerang Democracy School program was developed based on the knowledge transformation and democratic values that can be applied as a form of capital that intelligent citizens, critical and participatory; (3) The ability of a growing range in the aspects of both the ability to interact participation, monitoring and influencing the political process , (4) serious problems regarding budget dihaapi systemically threaten the sustainability of the program (5) The solution to the serious problems that seek funding agencies also plan to distribute the program into a program with a small scale by sub-program material.
