Abstract

Skripsi ini sejatinya merupakan penelitian yang lahir dari rasa penasaran peneliti terkait apa yang sebenarnya terjadi pada negeri Belanda selama masa pendudukan Jerman di tahun 1940-1945. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengungkap dinamika sosial-politik masyarakat Belanda selama pendudukan Jerman pada 1940-1945, khususnya terkait alasan di balik pilihan masyarakat untuk berkolaborasi dan melakukan perlawanan. Melalui metode penelitian sejarah yang mencakup tahapan pemilihan topik, heuristik, kritik, interpretasi dan eksplanasi, serta historiografi, penelitian ini menggunakan sumber-sumber primer dan sumber-sumber pendukung lainnya sebagai dasar analisis. Hasilnya, peneliti dapat menemukan empat jenis kolaborasi: netral, tanpa syarat, bersyarat, dan bersenjata, serta empat bentuk perlawanan: simbolis, polemik, difensif, dan ofensif. Pilihan untuk berkolaborasi sering kali dipengaruhi oleh tekanan atau kebutuhan praktis, bukan semata-mata karena kesepakatan ideologis. Di sisi lain, perlawanan muncul sebagai wujud penolakan terhadap penjajahan, meskipun tidak semua orang memiliki keberanian untuk melakukannya. Penelitian ini pun menyimpulkan bahwa respons masyarakat Belanda terhadap pendudukan Jerman sangat beragam, tentunya hal ini mencerminkan kompleksitas situasi sosial dan politik pada masa tersebut. Harapannya, penelitian ini dapat memberikan sudut pandang baru tentang keberagaman sikap masyarakat Belanda dalam menghadapi tekanan penjajahan, serta memperkaya wawasan dalam memahami sejarah pada masa Perang Dunia II. This thesis stems from the researcher’s curiosity about what truly happened in the Netherlands during the German occupation from 1940 to 1945. The study aims to uncover the socio-political dynamics of Dutch society during this period, particularly focusing on the reasons behind individuals choosing either to collaborate with and resist the occupiers. Using a historical research method encompassing topic selection, heuristics, critique, interpretation, explanation, and historiography, this study analyze primary sources alongside supporting materials. The findings reveal four types of collaboration: neutral, unconditional, conditional, and armed, as well as four forms of resistance: symbolic, polemic, defensive, and offensive. Collaboration was often influenced by pressure or practical needs rather than ideological agreement. In contrast, resistance emerged as a form of rejection of occupation, although not everyone had the courage to participate in it. This study concludes that Dutch society’s responses to the German occupation were highly diverse, reflecting the complex socio-political situation of the time. It is hoped that this research provides a fresh perspective on the variety of attitudes within Dutch society under occupation and enriches the understanding of history during World War II.
