HUBUNGAN DISKRIMINASI DENGAN KESEHATAN MENTAL PADA NARAPIDANA RESIDIVIS

Raisa Nadhira, - (2024) HUBUNGAN DISKRIMINASI DENGAN KESEHATAN MENTAL PADA NARAPIDANA RESIDIVIS. S1 thesis, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia.

    Abstract

Lembaga Pemasyarakatan Kelas IIB Sumedang. Metode: Menggunakan
pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode korelasional menggunakan analisis
Spearman Rank. Dalam penelitian ini, instrumen yang digunakan adalah SRQ-29
dan EDS (Everyday Discrimination Scale). Teknik pengambilan sampel
residivis. Hasil: Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, diperoleh sebesar 95% responden
mengalami diskriminasi tingkat rendah. Sebanyak 66,7% responden terindikasi
kemungkinan terindikasi kondisi kesehatan mental. Secara statistik, kekuatan
    hubungan ini tergolong lemah.

Discrimination that occurs in society against recidivist prisoners often appears in
the form of negative stigma, social rejection, and limited access to employment,
which can worsen their mental health conditions. This treatment not only hinders
the process of social reintegration but also increases the risk of mental health
disorders such as depression, anxiety, feelings of worthlessness, and prolonged
trauma. Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between
discrimination and mental health in recidivist prisoners at the Sumedang Class IIB
Penitentiary. Method: Using a quantitative approach with a correlational method
using Spearman Rank analysis. In this study, the instruments used were SRQ-29
and EDS (Everyday Discrimination Scale). The sampling technique used total
sampling, with a sample of 60 recidivist prisoners. Results: Based on the results of
the study, 95% of respondents experienced low-level discrimination. As many as
66.7% of respondents were indicated to have mental health disorders, with most of
them having more than one type of disorder. Based on the analysis, the Spearman
    Rho correlation value was -0.324 with p = 0.011 (p <0.05). Conclusion: The results
of the study indicate a negative relationship between discrimination and mental
health, where the lower the level of discrimination, the higher the likelihood of
indicating a mental health condition. Statistically, the strength of this relationship
    is relatively weak.
