Abstract

Scoliosis is a structural spine abnormality commonly observed in adolescents, particularly during puberty. This condition not only affects the physical aspect but also the psychological aspect, such as self-esteem. Changes in self-esteem in adolescents with scoliosis may arise due to alterations in body image, activity limitations, and social pressure, which can impact their mental health and quality of life. This study aims to describe the self-esteem levels of adolescents with scoliosis. The study used a descriptive quantitative design with total sampling technique. The respondents in this study were adolescents aged 10-19 years diagnosed with scoliosis, totaling 143 participants. Data were collected using the Coopersmith Self-Esteem Inventory (CSEI) questionnaire. The results showed that 114 adolescents (79.72%) had high self-esteem, while 29 adolescents (20.28%) had low self-esteem. This study indicates that the majority of adolescents with scoliosis have high self-esteem, although a small proportion has low self-esteem.
