Abstract
Berdasarkan hasil observasi awal terhadap 46 siswa SMP yang tersebar di empat provinsi di Indonesia terkait materi aljabar, teridentifikasi bahwa sebanyak 80.43% siswa masih memiliki keterbatasan dalam memahami konsep dasar operasi matematika, operasi aritmetika, hingga menyelesaikan masalah matematika kontekstual. Permasalahan ini bersumber dari sajian bahan ajar yang digunakan serta penjelasan guru yang kurang komprehensif. Oleh karena itu, tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan learning obstacle siswa di tingkat SMP dalam memahami materi persamaan linear satu variabel yang diperoleh melalui analisis buku teks matematika serta melalui pengalaman belajar siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan bagian besar dari framework Didactical Design Research (DDR). Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi informasi yang diperoleh dari partisipan manusia dan sumber informasi non-manusia. Objek penelitian yang digunakan yaitu buku teks matematika kelas VII Sekolah Menengah Pertama yang mengacu pada kurikulum Merdeka. Adapun subjek penelitian ini adalah 63 siswa kelas VII beserta seorang guru matematika di salah satu SMP Negeri di Luwuk. Learning obstacle dalam penelitian ini dianalisis melalui dua pendekatan, yaitu mathematical praxeology dan hermeneutic phenomenology. Berdasarkan hasil analisis keseluruhan type of task, technique, technology dan theory pada buku teks matematika kurikulum Merdeka, terjustifikasi bahwa buku teks matematika kurikulum Merdeka bersifat tidak sistemik dan tidak epistemik. Lebih lanjut, teridentifikasi tiga jenis learning obstacle yang dialami siswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah persamaan linear, yaitu didactical obstacle, epistemological obstacle dan ontogenic obstacle. Learning obstacles yang ditemukan dalam penelitian ini dapat menjadi landasan bagi penelitian selanjutnya dalam mengembangkan Hypothetical Learning Trajectory (HLT) dan desain didaktis materi persamaan linear satu variabel. Based on initial observations of 46 junior high school students across four provinces in Indonesia regarding algebraic material, it was identified that 80.43% of students still face obstacles in understanding basic mathematical operations, arithmetic operations, and solving contextual mathematical problems. These challenges primarily originate from the presentation of learning materials and the lack of comprehensive explanations from teachers. Therefore, this study aims to describe the learning obstacles encountered by junior high school students in understanding linear equations with one variable, analyzed through mathematics textbooks and students' learning experiences. This study is part of the Didactical Design Research (DDR) framework. The research explores information obtained from both human participants and non-human sources. The research objects include mathematics textbooks for seventh-grade junior high school students that adhere to the Merdeka Curriculum. The research subjects consist of 63 seventh-grade students and a mathematics teacher from a state junior high school in Luwuk. The learning obstacles in this study were analyzed through two approaches: mathematical praxeology and hermeneutic phenomenology. Based on a comprehensive analysis of the type of task, technique, technology, and theory in the Merdeka Curriculum mathematics textbooks, it was justified that the textbooks are neither systematic nor epistemic. Furthermore, three types of learning obstacles encountered by students in solving linear equations were identified: didactical obstacles, epistemological obstacles, and ontogenic obstacles. The learning obstacles identified in this study can serve as a foundation for future research in developing a Hypothetical Learning Trajectory (HLT) and didactical designs for linear equation material with one variable.
