Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pendekatan pembelajaran yang tidak sesuai dengan karakteristik perkembangan kognitif peserta didik dan materi pembelajaran yang akan diajarkan kepada peserta didik, khususnya pada materi sifat-sifat bangun ruang yang bersifat abstrak. Hal ini menyebabkan peserta didik sulit memahami materi dan kurang tertarik mengikuti pembelajaran karena dirasa sulit untuk diikuti sehingga berdampak pada kemampuan pemahaman konsep. Untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut, maka dibutuhkan solusi. Salah satunya menggunakan pendekatan PMRI (Pendidikan Matematika Realistik Indonesia). Tujuan penelitian ini, yaitu untuk mengetahui keefektifan penerapan pendekatan PMRI terhadap kemampuan pemahaman konsep sifat-sifat bangun ruang peserta didik kelas V. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan jenis metode quasi eksperimen. Desain penelitian ini, yaitu Nonequivalent control group design. Sampel yang digunakan, yaitu peserta didik kelas V di SDN Karanganyar berjumlah 24 orang sebagai kelas eksperimen dan 24 orang sebagai kelas kontrol. Instrument penelitian ini, yaitu tes kemampuan pemahaman konsep. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian menunjukan hasil pre-test kedua kelas tidak jauh berbeda, yaitu kelas eskperimen 48,54 sedangkan kelas kontrol 48,58. Perbedaan post-test kedua kelas, yaitu kelas eksperimen 81,25 sedangkan kelas kontrol 57,83. Hasil uji N-Gain menunjukan bahwa setelah penerapan pendekatan PMRI pada kelas eksperimen mengalami peningkatan pemahaman dengan nilai N-Gain 0,64 sedangkan pada kelas kontrol mengalami peningkatan dengan nilai N-Gain 0,16 setelah diterapkan pendekatan konvensional. Perbedaan kedua kelas tersebut berdasarkan hasil uji hipotesis menunjukan nilai sig. 0,001 yang artinya terdapat perbedaan rata-rata secara signifikan antara kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Dengan demikian, penerapan pendekatan PMRI efektif terhadap kemampuan pemahaman konsep peserta didik pada materi sifat-sifat bangun ruang. This causes students to have difficulty understanding the material and are less interested in participating in learning because it is considered difficult to follow so that it has an impact on the ability to understand concepts. To overcome these problems, a solution is needed. One of them is using the PMRI (Indonesian Realistic Mathematics Education) approach. The purpose of this study, namely to determine the effectiveness of the application of the PMRI approach to the ability to understand the concept of the properties of building spaces of grade V students. This research uses a quantitative approach with a type of quasi-experimental method. This research design, namely Nonequivalent control group design. The sample used, namely grade V students at SDN Karanganyar totaling 24 people as the experimental class and 24 people as the control class. This research instrument, namely the concept understanding ability test. Based on the results of the study, the pre-test results of the two classes were not much different, namely the experimental class 48.54 while the control class 48.58. The difference in the post-test of the two classes, namely the experimental class 81.25 while the control class 57.83. The N-Gain test results showed that after the application of the PMRI approach in the experimental class increased understanding with an N-Gain value of 0.64 while the control class increased with an N-Gain value of 0.16 after applying the conventional approach. The difference between the two classes based on the results of the hypothesis test showed a sig value. 0.001 which means there is a significant average difference between the experimental and control classes. Thus, the application of the PMRI approach is effective on the ability to understand the concepts of students on the material of the properties of building spaces.
