Abstract

PT PLN Indonesia Power Suralaya PGU is one of the largest power plants in Indonesia. Therefore, a backup system such as batteries is needed to maintain the power supply during emergency conditions. This study aims to monitor the condition of the batteries to ensure they remain in optimal condition. The method used is the Constant Current Dummy Load (CCDL), conducted by applying a constant current load of 44.1 A for 10 hours to the batteries. The test results showed a decrease in voltage, with a final total voltage of 111.53 V. Additionally, a reduction in electrolyte density was observed during the test, with a final value of 1.11 Kg/L. The battery temperature increased to 39°C by the end of the test. The discharge capacity of the batteries are not much different than the charging capacity of 430,4 Ah, proving that the battery efficiency is excellent at 97,6%. Based on the test, the battery will reach the minimum voltage limit of 108 V at 14.11 hours. Meanwhile, with a real load current of 68 A, the battery can supply the system load for 6.48 hours. Referring to the test data, it can be concluded that the 125 V batteries at PT PLN Indonesia Power Suralaya PGU Unit 2 are in excellent condition.
