Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh ditemukannya anak-anak yang mengalami kesulitan dalam belajar Bahasa Inggris khususnya belajar kosakata. Salah satu kegiatan yang dapat dilakukan untuk meningkatkan penguasaan kosakata Bahasa Inggris anak usia dini adalah dengan diterapkannya metode story telling terintegrasi media hand puppet. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas metode story telling terintegrasi media hand puppet untuk meningkatkan penguasaan kosakata Bahasa Inggris tema body parts pada anak usia dini di TK Aisyiyah 13. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu pre-eksperimen dengan desain one-group pretest-posttest. Subjek pada penelitian ini adalah 15 anak kelompok B di TK Aisyiyah 13 Kota Bandung. Data penelitian didapatkan melalui pre-test dan post-test. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan metode story telling terintegrasi media hand puppet berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap penguasaan kosakata Bahasa Inggris anak usia dini. Hal ini dibuktikan dari hasil uji-t (Paired Sample T-Test) yang mendapatkan nilai sig. 0,000, artinya lebih kecil dari 0,05. Dengan demikian, dapat diartikan bahwa H0 ditolak dan Ha diterima, atau metode story telling terintegrasi media hand puppet mempunyai pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap penguasaan kosakata Bahasa Inggris anak usia dini. Kemudian pada nilai effect size, hasil perhitungan uji Cohen's d mendapatkan nilai sebesar 5,21 yang berarti metode story telling terintegrasi media hand puppet memiliki efektivitas yang tinggi untuk meningkatkan penguasaan kosakata Bahasa Inggris anak usia dini. Implikasi dari penelitian ini adalah metode story telling terintegrasi media hand puppet dapat dijadikan sebagai salah satu referensi kegiatan pembelajaran dalam meningkatkan penguasaan kosakata Bahasa Inggris anak usia dini. This research was motivated by the discovery of children who have difficulty in learning English, especially learning vocabulary. One of the activities that can be done to improve the mastery of English vocabulary in early childhood is by implementing the integrated story telling method using hand puppet media. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the integrated story telling method using hand puppet media to improve the mastery of English vocabulary on theme of body parts in early childhood at Aisyiyah 13 Kindergarten. The research method used was a pre-experiment with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The subjects in the study were 15 children in group B at Aisyiyah 13 Kindergarten, Bandung City. The research data were obtained through pre-test and post-test. The results of this study indicate that the integrated story telling method using hand puppet media has a significant effect on the mastery of English vocabulary in early childhood. This is evidence by the results of the t-test (Paired Sample T-Test) which obtained a sig. value of 0,000, meaning it is less than 0,05. Thus, it can be interpreted that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted, or the story telling method integrated with hand puppet media has a significant influence on the mastery of English vocabulary of early childhood. Then in the effect size value, the results of the Cohen's d test calculation obtained a value of 5,21 which means that the story telling method integrated with hand puppet media has high effectiveness in improving the mastery of English vocabulary of early childhood. The implication of this study is that the story telling method integrated with hand puppet media can be used as a reference for learning activities in improving the mastery of English vocabulary of early childhood.
