Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh banyaknya kasus keluarga fatherless di Indonesia, di mana kondisi ini merupakan bentuk ketidakseimbangan dari sebuah struktur keluarga yang ideal. Kondisi keluarga yang mengalami fatherless ini memiliki dampak tersendiri bagi seorang anak, khususnya anak perempuan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji mengenai dampak hilangnya peran ayah pada perempuan dewasa awal dalam aspek hubungan romantis, yakni bagaimana kondisi fatherless yang dialami oleh perempuan dewasa awal dapat mempengaruhi hubungan romantis yang terjalin dengan pasangan mereka. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah studi kasus dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara observasi, wawancara mendalam, dan dokumentasi. Informan utama adalah perempuan pada fase dewasa awal (18-25 tahun) yang mengalami fatherless dan pernah atau sedang menjalin hubungan romantis. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pertama, latar belakang keluarga perempuan yang mengalami kondisi fatherless disebabkan oleh banyak faktor, yang di mana semua faktor ini bermuara pada hilangnya rasa tanggung jawab seorang ayah terhadap keluarganya sehingga setiap anggota keluarga tersebut terkena dampak atau akibatnya. Kedua, minimnya komunikasi dan interaksi yang terjalin antara para informan dengan ayah mereka membuat tidak adanya kedekatan secara emosional di antara mereka sehingga sang anak merasakan adanya kekosongan akan perhatian dan kasih sayang dari seorang ayah. Ketiga, dampak dari kondisi fatherless para informan dalam jalinan hubungan romantis antara lain: memiliki masalah kepercayaan terhadap laki-laki; adanya rasa ketergantungan yang tinggi terhadap pasangan perihal perhatian dan kasih sayang; rasa takut ditinggal oleh pasangan; dan mencari sosok laki-laki ideal untuk memenuhi kekosongan peran ayah.

This research is motivated by the large number of cases of fatherless families in Indonesia, where this condition is a form of imbalance in an ideal family structure. The condition of families experiencing fatherless has its own impact on a child, particularly for girls. This research aims to examine the effects of the absence of a father’s role on early adult women in the aspect of romantic relationships, specifically how the fatherless condition experienced by young women can influence the romantic relationships that they have with their partners. The research methodology used is case study, utilizing a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques include observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The primary informants are emerging adulthood women (18-25 years old) who have experienced fatherless and have been or are currently in romantic relationships. The results of this research indicate several key points: First, the backgrounds of families with fatherless conditions are influenced by numerous factors, where all of these factors lead to a father’s loss of a sence of responsibility towards the family, so that every member of the family is affected. Second, the lack of communication and interaction between the informants and their fathers result in emotional distance, leading the child to feel a void in paternal attention and affection. Third, the impacts of the informant’s fatherless condition in romantic relationships include having trouble trusting men, a heightened dependency on partners for attention and affection, fear of abandonment, and seeking for an ideal male figure to fulfill the void in father's role.
