Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi penerapan model pembelajaran RADEC (Read, Answer, Discuss, Explain, Create) dalam pengajaran membaca Bahasa Indonesia bagi Penutur Asing (BIPA) tingkat dasar bagi penutur bahasa Arab. Metode RADEC dipilih karena kemampuannya mendorong partisipasi aktif siswa serta meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis dan literasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode studi kasus dengan desain pre-test dan post-test untuk mengukur efektivitas RADEC dalam meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemelajar BIPA 1, dengan subjek penelitian yang terdiri dari dua mahasiswa asal Mesir yang belajar di Pusat Kebudayaan Indonesia di Kairo. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model RADEC memberikan pengaruh positif terhadap kemampuan membaca, dengan peningkatan signifikan dalam aspek pemahaman konten, penggunaan bahasa, dan pemahaman struktur teks. Secara keseluruhan, skor total meningkat dari 185-215 pada pre-test menjadi 285-300 pada post-test. Mahasiswa A menunjukkan peningkatan dari 185 menjadi 285, sementara Mahasiswa S meningkat dari 215 menjadi 300. Terdapat beberapa tantangan dalam penerapan model RADEC, termasuk kebutuhan akan penyesuaian materi dan metode yang disesuaikan dengan latar belakang linguistik dan budaya penutur bahasa Arab, terutama dalam aspek fonologis. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa RADEC merupakan pendekatan yang efektif dalam pengajaran membaca BIPA dasar, tetapi diperlukan adaptasi lebih lanjut untuk mengatasi tantangan spesifik yang dihadapi penutur bahasa Arab. This research aims to explore the application of the RADEC (Read, Answer, Discuss, Explain, Create) learning model in teaching reading Indonesian for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) at the basic level for Arabic speakers. The RADEC method was chosen for its ability to encourage active student participation and improve critical thinking and literacy skills. This study uses a case study method with a pre-test and post-test design to measure the effectiveness of RADEC in improving the reading skills of BIPA 1 learners, with research subjects consisting of two Egyptian students studying at the Indonesian Cultural Center in Cairo. The results show that the application of the RADEC model has a positive impact on reading ability, with significant improvements in aspects of content comprehension, language use, and understanding of text structure. Overall, total scores increased from 185-215 in the pre-test to 285-300 in the post-test. Student A showed an increase from 185 to 285, while Student S improved from 215 to 300. There were several challenges in implementing the RADEC model, including the need for adaptation of materials and methods tailored to the linguistic and cultural background of Arabic speakers, especially in phonological aspects. This study concludes that RADEC is an effective approach in teaching basic BIPA reading, but further adaptation is needed to address specific challenges faced by Arabic speakers.
