Abstract
Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menguji pengaruh citra tubuh dan harga diri terhadap kecenderungan body dysmorphic disorder pada remaja. Penelitian ini melibatkan 285 responden perempuan dan 114 responden laki-laki (N=399) yang diperoleh menggunakan teknik accidental sampling. Responden mengisi instrumen yang terdiri atas Appearance Anxiety Inventory (AAI) yang disusun oleh Veale et al. (2014) dengan reliabilitas 0,80 untuk mengukur body dysmorphic disorder, Body-Self Relations Questionnaire Appeearance Scale (MBRSQ-AS) yang disusun oleh Brown et al. (1990) dengan reliabilitas 0,71 untuk mengukur citra tubuh, dan RSES (Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale) yang disusun oleh Rosenberg (1965) dengan reliabilitas 0,88 untuk mengukur harga diri. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah teknik analisis regresi berganda untuk mengetahui pengaruh citra tubuh dan harga diri terhadap kecenderungan body dysmorphic disorder pada remaja di Jawa Barat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa citra tubuh dan harga diri secara bersama mempengaruhi body dysmorphic disorder secara negatif.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of body image and self-esteem on the tendency of body dysmorphic disorder in adolescents. This study involved 285 female respondents and 114 male respondents (N=399) obtained using accidental sampling techniques. Respondents filled out several instruments consisting of the Appearance Anxiety Inventory (AAI) compiled by Veale et al. (2014) with a reliability of 0.80 to measure body dysmorphic disorder, the Body-Self Relations Questionnaire Appearance Scale (MBRSQ-AS) compiled by Brown et al. (1990) with a reliability of 0.71 to measure body image, and the RSES (Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale) compiled by Rosenberg (1965) with a reliability of 0.88 to measure self-esteem. The data analysis technique used was multiple regression analysis to determine the influence of body image and self-esteem on the tendency of body dysmorphic disorder in adolescents in West Java. The results of the study indicate that body image and self-esteem together negatively affect body dysmorphic disorder.
