Abstract
Besarnya peningkatan produksi bijih nikel sejalan dengan meningkatnya limbah-limbah sampingan produksi terak (slag) yang dihasilkan dari pengolahan nikel. Penggunaan metode konvensional seperti hidrometalurgi dan pirometalurgi dalam pengolahan logam kerap kali dianggap kurang ramah lingkungan. Penggunaan ILs dan DES untuk pengolahan logam karena sifatnya yang selektif terhadap logam tertentu serta ramah lingkungan menjadi alternatif metode pengolahan logam. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan perbandingan optimum antara betain dengan asam oktanoat pada pembentukan EILs, mengetahui kandungan mineral dan logam berharga dari nikel laterit dan terak nikel, serta mengetahui persen pungut ulang logam berharga setelah proses pelindian menggunakan EILs. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini terdiri dari beberapa tahapan yakni sintesis EILs, preparasi sampel, pelindian, dan karakterisasi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian. diketahui bahwa proses pelindian untuk pungut ulang logam berharga dari sampel nikel laterit dan terak nikel menggunakan EILs menunjukkan hasil sebanyak 27,4% Fe, 80,1% Co, dan 61,5% Ni dapat terlindi dari sampel NL1. Untuk sampel NL2, pada kondisi optimum sebanyak 26,8% Fe, 38,6% Cr, 77,5% Al, dan 89,8% Ni dapat terlindi. Pada sampel TN, pada kondisi optimum sebanyak 77% Al, 26,8% Fe, 33,7% Co, 57% Cu, 68,9% Ti, 65,7% V, dan 89,8% Ni dapat terlindi. Dengan demikian, penggunaan EILs betain-asam oktanoat dapat digunakan sebagai pelindi pada proses pungut logam berharga dari ketiga sampel dan optimum pada ukuran partikel 200 mesh.
The large increase in nickel ore production production is in line with the increase in slag production by products generated from nickel processing. The use of conventional methods such as hydrometallurgy and pyrometallurgy in metal processing is often considered to be less environmentally friendly. More and more research groups are conducting studies on the use of ILs and DES for metal processing due to their metal-selective and environmentally friendly properties. This study aims to obtain the optimum ratio between betaine and octanoic acid in the formation of EILs, determine the content of minerals and valuable metals from nickel laterite and nickel slag, and to determine the percent recovery of valuable metals after leaching using EILs. Based on the research results, it was found that leaching process for recovering valuable metals from nickel laterite samples and nickel slag samples using EILs showed that 27.4% Fe, 80.1% Co, and 61.5% Ni were leached from the NL1 sample. For the NL2 sample, at the optimum conditions as much as 26.8% Fe, 38.6% Cr, 77.5% Al, and 89.8% Ni can be leached. In the TN sample, under the optimum conditions as much as 77% Al, 26.8% Fe, 33.7% Co, 57%. Cu, 68.9% Ti, 65.7% V, and 89.8% Ni can be leached. With Thus, the use of betaine-octanoic acid EILs can be utilized as a leachant in the process of extracting valuable metals from the three samples and optimum at particle size of 200 mesh.
